Just prescribed this by my uro for low T. I was previously on a laundry list of SSRI'S and anti anxiety meds.

My uro told me it would be probably a couple shots until I really feel the results. The good thing is I felt better than I have in years a single day after the 1.5cc inj. in the hip. Zero depression, Zero anxiety.

Is 8 days really the half life or does it depend on one's metabolism? I took the injection on Thursday and had the best weekend. Loads of energy, no mood swings, I felt like a rockstar. I feel a little "down" today and just trying to discern if my body is metabolizing or if it's in my head? Bloodwork will be done in a month. Uro said he is concerned more with how I feel.

My wife is a rep in big pharma, so I know that some of the uro reps will have some very good info. Do any reps have some data on how fast Test. Cyp. is metabolized?

    Serum was 149
    Free was 6.6

I don't understand why docs don't check this before they throw you on 10 different head meds.

    Thanks for any info.

So let me tell you what to expect from your testosterone. You will get a steroid high, a rush that will last a few days which will slowly subside, along with your increased free T. Your binding globulin will change as well. You will be in the urologists office in 3 weeks for another shot and it won't be because of your mood. You will now be addicted to testosterone. If you are not truely hypogonadal I'm not sure that the urology community is convinced that there is a clinical benefit of T Rx. I'm pretty sure the endocrine community is unconvinced. A worst case scenario is roid rage where you may have a pretty severe change in behavior that could be dangerous to you and others. You may get acne, oily skin and other typical sequelae of hyperandroennism if your levels are not carefully monitored. Unfortunately you may start having cravings as the T declines leading to typical drug cravings and drug searching behavior. Your testes could shrink. Don't be convinced that T will improve your erections as they are not really T dependent. Is there a risk if you have an occult Prostate cancer? Answer is not really at hand but I surely would want to be followed closely.

I don't think anabolic steroids are a good, safe therapy for an affective disorder.
If Watson tells you any differently they are ,, well, marketing, and out of insert at that.

Fellowship trained endo with a urologist wife,

I do appreciate the info. I don't know if my uro actually dx'd me with hypogonadism (he hasn't said outright), but I do know my levels 2 years ago were at 254 and 8.8 respectively at 34 years old. No Watson rep has spoken to me on the subject. I'm sure that Testosterone Cypionate is not indicated for Depression, Anxiety, etc.. I started the thread on this board because this is the manufacturer of the vial of the Test Cyp I was given at the pharmacy (it could as easily have been UpJohn I guess).

My uro checked my testicles and my prostate as well as had PSA bloodwork done. All were normal. I'm not saying Test Cyp. Is a "cure all", but it has lifted my depression and greatly minimized my anxiety and night sweats. As an endo, what additional panels would you run?

My uro stated he could put me through a MRI and other tests, but they normally come back to the same place. Erections were not really a concern (I can get Cialis for that). It was all of the other symptoms I have been experiencing for years. The Uro also told me that he usually doesn't consider the therapy, but my with my free being 30% below normal and my serum being so low, it seems like a logical course.

    Much respect.

Testosterone Cypionate is very effective in treating men who are experiencing Andropause which is the equivalent of Menopause for men. It is usually prescribed to more who have low Free Test. levels in their body by a HRT ( Hormone Replacement Therapy ) Dr., and is very effective for depression, anxiety, lethargy ( Low Energy Levels ), mood swings, etc.., or what some would call a Mid-Life Crisis. This depletion usually starts slowly around age 25, and digresses from there on. It is just like when women hit menopause, and then need to go on HRT. Well, it is the same for men too. Why suffer the symptoms that can completely alter your life in a negative way when it isn't necessary? It keeps you with that youthful feeling, saves lives, marriages, improves, relationships and cognition, but it must be taken on a weekly basis. I give myself a quick 1cc/1ML injection of 100 mg of Test. Cyp. each Monday morning righ after my morning shower, and my life has improved substantially. Best Wishes, and GOD BLESS!

HRT Patient, what has been your experience? How much weight gain/loss? Any significant muscle increase? Energy level? What was your test level before and after your therapy stabilized?

I just started, looking to find out what to expect in the weeks to come. Just took my 2nd shot today, 200mg p/week. I'm 5'7", 205, 33 yrs old, 400 range test, very low energy.

I'm 28 and I have been injecting for a few months and I have been running faster to first base and hitting more Home Runs for my Rec Softball team. The pregnant moms watching think I'm awesome. I was a loser in High School and couldn't even hit it out of the infield to the grass!
Back, Back, Back it's out a here and so am I.

I know this is an old thread and post but after reading it I just have to say that this post is ridiculous. There are so many men that I know who have benefited from TRT if they have low levels; it does not matter if the low levels are from age or condition all that matters is that the levels are low.

I will agree that if you don't stick to a therapeutic dosage one could become "addicted" to the feeling that it gives you, but even then it's not the same kind of addiction as one would experience with hard drugs such as cocaine or heroin.

My advice; never listen to these old burnt out endos/urologists. Sure they exist to make sure your endocrine system is in balance and I appreciate them for the necessity that they are. The problem with their outlook is that they feel it's normal for someone to have low levels of T caused by age. Well; guess what, it is normal for testosterone to decline with age. Here's a newsflash though; you die anyways so why not enjoy your later years?

Oh and as far as the "roid rage". This comment alone shows that this person does not have the slightest clue what they are talking about. When a man has low testosterone, they may have also have a poor testosterone to estrogen ratio. When a man has high estrogen levels they can become overly sensitive and whiny which can indirectly lead to big arguements etc.

I could go on and on about how this outlook is horrible, but I think you get my point.

My experience: TRT for 8 years since I was 18. Diagnosed with secondary hypogonadism. My grandpa and father are also prescribed to exogenous testosterone (androgel) and they are loving it. They have much more energy, are not down and have the ability to maintain muscle mass.

I was in the same boat as you... 200mg per week. I did research and talked to my doctor. For a smoother "ride" I am splitting the injection into twice a week. I take 1/2ml on Monday, 1/2ml Thurs.

Im 39 and been on T since 32, when cancer took my testes. Over all the cyp shots r a roller coaster, and when im low i know it, body aches all the time, no drive, sleep patterns get screwy, sex feels bla, etc.
I did testopel for 2 yrs recently and that rocked except that the incisions cause anoying scares. Im now using aveed, a time release shot, or at least trying to since my insurance co is a bunch of wankers. Anyway....
i feel i metabolize 5cc of cyp in about 3 days...im 6'2" and 250lb, very active, not fat but not ripped. What u have to watch for with cyp is blood thickening causing heart to work harder and increase estrogen levels, cancer cell growth and getting overly macho...so watch ur P/E ratio monthly at firat then do blood test every 2 months.
Bottom line it is like any drug, it will take more and u will become acutly aware of how it effects you, but no T is hell.

I am 53 and have been on Test Enth (similar to cyp). I get my stuff online and it is cheap $7.50 a amp for 1 ml of 250 ml. I even had it tested as I work in Pharma. I had all my # s checked at Doc and It really has made a big improvement not only in # but in living life.

I do not work for Watson and suggesting that all men over 40 consider this. Once you do you will not look back. It is like you have poor vision and then you put on a pair of eyeglasses and you are like : " wow. I was missing all this ? "
