The average doc still thinks the Sunshine Act is to expose him/her for accepting a bagel from the sales rep. That misconception is encouraged by opponents of ACA. The higher purpose is to expose the excessive payments to physician "thought leaders" who are convincing their peers to use their sponsor's products. This is how medical costs sky rocket and are passed along to everyone else in crazy high insurance premiums and deductibles. Here's an example of how it works; http://www.metabolism.com/2014/11/30/how-the-sunshine-act-will-save-you-money/#more-21467

The Sunshine Act is yet another example of government over-reach. It attempts to micromanage and control physicians by posting information which should be private. It is totally pathetic IMO.
