The manufacturers that have grown too big, arrogant and self important like us will soon follow our lead. Screw distributors ! Who needs them? Screw employees ! Celebrate upheaval and alienation of all those loyal to you, turmoil is good for building business !! What could possibly go wrong with such a well thought out stratege-ery ?

Can't wait for the after effects of hundreds of buying group clinics that are about to dump us. Wonder how many of us will get laid off then ? Time to cash out.

Probably paid him a big bonus and promoted him. Maybe even gave him a soundproof limo to the bank. So the rest of us couldn't hear him laughing.

Wouldn't be surprised to see products from both companies competing for the space on the end cap. Welcome to Mega Mart where we sell it, but know nothing about it. Next customer please...I dunno...move along..

You mean you don't still get a penny for taking the order and the cleaning up the shit for them ? Chalk up another reason distributors hate manufacturers. Always getting screwed on both ends, but expected to keep on smiling while whoring ourselves for Ye Giant Pimp Co.

    Funny

It's quiet on here finally. They must be busy trying to save accounts.

10s of millions $ residual already lost - more to follow

Yes, we've been busy sending out faxes begging clinics to start using snap kits again. Lowering the price after jacking it up and watching sales die off. Practically standing on the street corner with a cardboard sign begging clinics to buy feline kits this month. Love my job !!!

We'll win everything back, clinical value. One or two missed diagnosis and they will come running back. BTW, IDEXX earnings going great, ever since breakup, look at the stock and earnings, moron. Now go back selling your Heska, Abaxis and coffee cups. See ya!

The point is that when you overnight a 30% price hike and cut off 90% of the ways your customers could order, it doesn't matter how great you think you are. Idexx has a long way to go to recover any of the sales it's lost. No amount of BS will change that. The damage is done. Own it and move on.

The customers who've switched away. The lost sales. Our stock price which looks like an epileptic downhill roller coaster. But mainly the koolaid induced idea that "we'll win it all back "
Maybe if we buy up the competition and shut em down..

distribution is getting too much credit, there are lots of new competition in the snap market and idexx market share would have dipped regardless of going direct or not. and seriously, to the disgruntled employee talking about the stock prices, you are a moron. idexx stock was trading around $68 (or $136 before split) on 7/3/14, this was before going direct. today it is trading around $73. that's almost 10% growth. idexx is still a strong investment.

Of course it looks great at the moment. The stock looks like a bad EKG over the past several months, especially to those who only look at graphs and don't read the facts. Wall Street is full of morons. Just think mortgage backed securities and other wonderful investments of the early 2000's ! Don't worry about the market ever ! What could go wrong ?

Fast forward.... We consolidated inventory costs and increased the cost that clinics pay by cutting out the middle men that did our work for us...hmmm...life is great on paper.

The true test will be time. If we kiss enough butt, keep advertising how great we are and how much our competition sucks and don't get sued....and woo back clinics by lowering prices to be competitive again.....maybe everything will be wonderful after all.

If not 20-30% of us will be getting pink slips next year.

Overpriced ( in vets mind ) kits just don't sell that well anymore. When all your feline patients are tested by the shelters before you ever see them , what vet is going to want a 30 ct $500 box of feline triples ? Or an even higher unit price on the 15 ct ? Anyone got an extra refrigerator they want running all year too ? With an army of former Idexx allies pushing the alternatives....Get with the times and adapt if you want to remain the market leader.

Cheap vets see the lower cost options out there and they're all over it. They're not that worried about 2% less accuracy. And if they've dropped the in house test, as many have, they send it out to reference lab for the few cases they actually would test.

Ok, so Rapid Assay is less than 10% of IDEXX's revenue, even if there is a small decrease in sales, it was well made up for in consumables, capital and lab services. You tried to take that away from us and hit a brick wall. Most of you don't even talk about it anymore or want to because you don't want to deal with the problems. So yes, hang your hat on switching a few on tests that are cheaper, they will come back and you will be standing outside looking in.
