You can be quite clear, that Olympus
Is not the place to start a career right now.
It's obvious by all the posts, that management
Has really stuck it to their reps. Many, many
Disgruntled reps, and a few finance and company
Men trying to lash them back. We will not be silenced!!!!

It's a great job for someone coming from Pharma or a Bard or Boston Sci. It's not a lifetime job for someone with experience in devices, stay 2 years and move on. Don't be a 50 year old stuck with this job because you have lost value to employers because you lacked motivation to better yourself. You will never get another good paying sales job once you reach a certain age.

Yeah... definitely don't do anything that dumb like become a 50 year old stuck making 250-350K in our Urology Division. My Urology counterpart is in his early 50s and has made either slightly over or slightly under 300K for the past 10 years running.

your urology counterpart may have made that much for the past 10 years but he/she wont make that much anymore. everyone is being taken down to 180/220. You will never see money like that again at Olympus. They do not pay their reps that well. Take a look at the GI reps. They have the biggest volume and highest margin however they are not making on average more then 250k. Look elsewhere for a better opportunity.

Look at going to Karl Storz. That place is the promise land.

Storz may not be the promised land but its a private company without the black eye of a financial scandal. They still believe in their reps and pay them for their effort. Its a matter of time before they have a decent bi polar system. Im sure they pay their reps more for bi polar then then olympus does. I know Im looking at both storz and wolf and once they have an opening Im gone.

I agree, if the money was still there, well paid TMs would have never moved to management. The GI sales force comparison is spot on. My friend was warned before he became a manager what the future held for the sales force and it wasn't pretty.

Ok, but what about our non-competes?

You need to see what the law is in your state. Frankly if you had money to fight it, the court would not stop you from making a living however most companies do not want to deal with that headache. You either need to leave for a year or take a position outside your territory. This is the only thing they have you on and why they mess each year with the comp plan.

Unless you go outside of your territory the company will pursue noncompetes.

Still one of the best companies to work for in the industry.

If your saying Olympus then your a moron. Have fun when they launch the new crm system. You'll be treated like a pharma rep and make as much as one too.
