Not to be nitpicky here but Hetlioz is not a sleep aid, it’s a circadian rhythm regulator. Might not sound like a big difference, but it is. That is the problem with the continued dumbing down of the message and the selling to inappropriate specialties.
The reason we don’t call on sleep centers is simple. Anyone who was trained in circadian rhythm disorders knows how rare Non-24 is. Google “prevalence of non-24” and you will see for yourself. A circ spec. might see a ton of delayed phase or even shift work disorders but true free running crsw is extremely rare outside of the totally blind with no light perception population. That is why those specialists are not call points.

 

Stop saying rare and circadian rhythm. We are trying to not do subtly let psychiatrists think that Hetlioz is indicated for insomnia and we have both insomnia data and sighted data. You have been warned.

At the POA, management said that they will have a mix of NSRsand ANSRs moving forward. Lies lies lies. Every single listing for vacant territories is ANSR. They just don't want to pay for seasoned reps with experience. ANSR reps are already looking to get out of here too. They are smart enough to know that Vanda is a hot mess of a company. The turnover is bad and it will get worse.

 

I’ve never seen such turnover.

 

It could get larger. Stock is almost at 52 week low. We all know who to blame - he is sitting in the CEO chair. But he and GP will blame reps and do another purge. It's that time of year.

 

Everyone is getting fired for performance and nobody is leaving on their own.

 

GP said stock will go north soon. I believe it.

I wonder how many reps are on "plans ". Good reps have been on them for the most ridiculous reasons. A lot of people that I know have been quitting, not getting fired over plans. They are pushing reps out to get 50k/yr replacements. Another way for Mihales to inflate the earnings numbers for investors. Numbers are flat so let's hire for half the salary.

 

I believe GP as much as I believe Tom or Jen or my manager. Haven't even been here a year and waiting to not to be lied to or encouraged to lie to HCPs just ONCE....

 

But that is the exact ready why Hetlioz is a rare orphan disease drug and they justify charging $160,000 for it.

 

It's over $200K now. Price increases due to number fudgers Jim and Mihales way overestimating sales to investors and trying to make up for lost scripts with increased price per script that actually gets filled.

If it is an Orphan drug for a rare disease than 1 script per quarter is more than acceptable. Charging $200K for a drug and then demanding piles of scripts and requiring it to be messaged as a sleep aid is wrong in so many ways. How do Jim and Mihales and GP sleep at night? They should be sleeping in jail cells.

 

At POA they held a workshop on sleep agents. The new pitch is "Ambien is only recommended to treat insomnia for 7 days. Maybe its something else and not just insomnia." RM and DSM are being told to promote off label. The attorneys are going to have a field day.
