Be very careful with Arthrocare as they were being investigated by the SEC last year. Also, they don't really have much of a product portfolio accept the RF. The RF is under some stiff competition as more and more companies are coming out with competing products (Stryker etc). I interviewed with them and they offered a pretty nice package but I decided against it because the territory had already been used and abused and the previous rep left because he/she had no more room to growth. There were a lot of hospital contracts, pricing arrangements etc.

Growing 24% halfway through fiscal year

I thought Arthrex's fiscal year end was December. Was that changed to end of June or something? It would be nice to know if we are comparing apples to applies or to oranges here! :)
BTW--so far all the distributors we have talked to in our interest in investing $ in upgrades to a number of ASCs and hospital surgery centers say their Arthrex sales increased in the high thirties to mid-forties. Of course that is US only. I don't know how things are going for Arthrex overseas!
What do things look like for 2009? Slowed but still strong? Maybe 60% of growth of previous years or what's the feel in the field?

General question here, but what benefits does an Arthrex Field Care Specialist receive? Also, do y'all work strictly off commission or is there base pay (assuming there is)? Is a territory in a place like North or Mid Florida worth a hoot? Thanks, just in the market for a medical devices job and was curious.

DO NOT LET YOUR SURGEON USE ARTHREX ANCHOR SUTURES ON YOU!!!! IF YOU HEAR SOMETHING GREAT ABOUT THEM ITS BECAUSE THEY ARE MAKING MONEY ON IT. IF YOU HAD SURGERY AND HAD ONE PUT IN YOU GET HELP. DONT STOP UNTIL YOU GET HELP. WE GOT TOLD GO AWAY APPROX. 40 TIMES BEFORE WE FOUND HELP. WE WERE TOLD GET PAIN MANAGEMENT.
My husband had to go to one of the top ten hospitals in the U.S.A to have the pieces removed. They are made of a soft material and are weak and break apart in the joint and get lodged. They may cause SCARING AND ADHESIONS, A TUMOR, BLOOD CLOTS that can KILL YOU>
WE WERE LUCKY! One of U.S.A. top surgeons went in and removed SEVERAL PIECES.
Because BIG CORPORATIONS HAVE LOTS AND LOTS OF MONEY THEY CAN SELL YOU A PILE OF PIG SHIT AND YOU WILL BUY IT. DONT BE FOOLED BY ALL THE BIG MONEY MAKING CRAP THEY ARE FULL OF. STAY AWAY FROM THE ARTHREX. THE BOTTOM LINE IS NOT IF IT IS GOOD FOR YOU...ITS IF THEY CAN GET RICH SELLING IT.
GOOD LUCK! THANK GOD MY HUSBAND DID NOT DIE.

LOL tumors!!! did a s&n rep tell you that while selling you his peek product. Or maybe it was the s&n consultant surgeon. Where im from the only people not using arthrex are being paid by an inferior company. I never hear of any other company being named on primetime football on sundays. There is a reason why the most valuable bodies in the USA are being treated with arthrex products.

Is he really "scrubbing" cases as a rep. or are you just too stupid to know what you're talking about?

Barber is anybodys doc, provided he is paid. He shows no bias.
Arthrocare do seem to have some interesting and innovative new devices - both in the Opus and Atlantech collections.

Re: Coblation patents begin to expire in 2012

    Patents and Proprietary Rights

Our ability to compete effectively depends in part on developing and maintaining the proprietary aspects of our technologies, including Coblation technology and our acquired technologies. We own over 190 issued U.S. patents and over 150 issued international patents. In addition, we have over 160 U.S. and international pending patent applications. We believe our issued patents are directed at, among other things, the core technology used in our soft-tissue surgery systems, including both multi-electrode and single electrode configurations of our disposable devices, as well as the use of Coblation technology in many different surgical procedures. In addition, our issued patents are directed at many of the core features of our acquired technologies from Opus, Atlantech, Parallax and ATI. Our earliest Coblation patents begin to expire in 2012. The majority of our royalty income is associated with licenses that include core Coblation patent rights which extend through the end of 2014.

Hi, Ok so I hear that there are no benefits with Arthrex distributers but it is a healthy, robust line that is growing. Sounds like reps make between 80-120 in commissions per year. so what companies/distributors have as robust, interesting and innovative of product where the reps are not commission only and can make upwards of 2K? west coast and east coast?

Does anyone know who Biomet Sports Medicine east coast VP is? He was in a few of my accounts last week and was able to get a few guys to commit to cases. One of them happens to be a big hitter for me. I never thought this guy would use anything biomet had. Not worried, I don't think he lives in Florida.

Arthrex needs to start hiring Reps. that have a clue. My area must follow hire Rep.'s based on Athletic ability just to get face time with the surgeon while they are at the Gym.
They may have a good product but they have priced themselves out of the market. Charging a NON Stocking fee !!!
Go ahead and say what you want but this OR Manager has developed a strong dislike for the Company.
