Hey chicken. If you say layoffs every few months you are eventually going to be right. You know NOTHING.

Maybe. But last year, many knew what was coming by mid-year when December hit. I was one of them. I, like many just hoped I would be spared. I remember our leadership was incredulous that we knew what was taking place when the calls were made. It only takes one higher up to say something "in confidence" to someone that then spreads it to another couple of very close confidants. Before long, the rumors show up on cafepharma.

So is the rumor end of June or is it end of year?

Can we all agree that we need to get rid of these overpaid twits from ZS Pharma? They have not provided any value to our company and just sacrifice relationships we've established!

Mid-August. Just like last year... and many knew about December although not the extent, CV/MET was known, but not the amount in Wilmington (BAMs, amount of EBDs, or the ID reorg - although even that if you reflect back there were signs...) It was predicted for end of June, but is being pushed to mid-August, just hopeful not as severe... just ironing out the details folks... if I was in Resp or Diabetes I would get my resume ready and putting feelers out so when the package comes you can hit the ground running...

The frug they were hired to sell is a no go...at least this year. Between their salaries and car allowances, is it really worthwhile to keep them?

The future of big Pharma is specialty drugs and specialty reps. All promotion to primary care after a 6-12 month launch phase of new products will be handled by contract reps. If you are not selling something to specialists then you are not long for Pharma sales.

Three years ago a VP told me to go to oncology. Should've listened.

Don't beat yourself up..for the last 3 years almost no internals have been moved into Oncology...no matter who they were or what they had accomplished..including those that went thru oncology academy!!

Oncology sales is a huge misnomer. In order to sell something, you need access to a customer who sees you as offering something of value. This does not exist in Oncology with very very very few exceptions. Leadership is living in an alternative world if they think that this is really selling. Oncology reps do the same dog and pony show that all reps do only to fewer targets for higher pay. It is all a part of the big Pharma fraud and a huge waste of money. Yes it is a pay check and a nice gig but it is just as boring and self deprecating as any other pharma sales role.

Hey Dude, I worked in Oncology for 7 years. If you work there then you know what I said is absolutely true.
On average you might get to say hello to two of your Oncologists and that is if you have a lunch.
