How many Cambridge people are relocating to Marlborough? I can say that not many are from Wallingford. Maybe a handful...less than five I would guess. The morale here in Wallyword is in the pits right now. We're still waiting for the announcement of the three new RRL's they're supposed to be opening in CT.

Has Quest given hard dates, numbers and people specifically impacted at Wallingford yet? Unless Quest figures out how to bypass the Federal WARN act then they have to give at least 60 days notice to the impacted employees.

June 3 announcement stated that 70 Wallingford employees would be laid off and another 70 moved to Marlborough. Another Quest press release said there are currently 650 employees at Wallingford. So what are the plans for the other 510 employees from Wallingford?

The current plan, from what I'm told, is to create 2-3 RRLs in CT to replace Wallingford. That's probably just an excuse to get around Federal WARN act requirements, however. The labs will never materialize.

Besides, haven't all the good people already left?

No specific date yet, just the standard 18 to 24 months blah,blah,blah.... Billing Customer Service is gone already and Billing was told they will be gone next August at the latest. If the rec count goes down then it could be earlier.

Ha....they love to put a spin on everything. That 650 employee count is all of CT - including the phlebs and staff out in the field. There's only around 300 physically in Wallingford. The 70 supposedly moving to Marlborough is a joke because there's only a handful that are interested or capable of relocating; and no one I've talked to wants to commute an hour each way.

Google maps shows the drive from Wallingford to Marlborough to be 1 hour 37 minutes up Rt 84. So I would guess that anybody who lives South or West of Wallingford this would be a completely impractical commute as it could easily be 2 hours if they were already driving 20 or 30 minutes in to Wallingford. I would agree this is just company spin and the number of people who would be able to switch to Marlborough would be pretty limited.

Still there in Marlborough, or are you one of the droves of people who have given their notice and moved on once reality hit?

Yes, I am "still there" in Marlboro. Hardly anybody moved on, where are they going to go? The facility kicks butt, have you not been following my posts?
Local merchants have seen an uptick in sales of gasoline, tums, and Depends. The local economy is thriving. How could it be otherwise with ONE THOUSAND Quest champions and their families augmenting every aspect of life in Marlboro!!!!

Are you sure you are really there? You spell Marlborough the way the cigarette brand is spelled, not the way it is spelled in Massachusetts.

    Really?
Better tell that to the DMV here in Mass, because on practically all the road signs in and around town, it is spelled Marlboro. It is and can be spelled both ways.
Sorry to squash your post, but facts are facts.

And Mass is short for Massachusetts. Many people take the Massachusetts Turnpike in to work. They call it the Mass Pike. I do too. Sorry........
That must mean I don't live here, right?

Apparently, the Quest Corporate website has this wrong too, according to your post. It is spelled Marlborough.

Other "boroughs" in Massachusetts near us:

    http://www.town.northborough.ma.us/Pages/index

    http://www.southboroughtown.com/

Sorry to squash your post, but outsiders and lazy spellers use your wrong spelling. Facts are the facts.

Who the heck gives a rats little butt about how they spell it. Does it really matter?

Seriously. This person is really hung up on the spelling. Just determined to prove me wrong.
Formally, all the "boroughs" are spelled that way-----Northborough, Marlborough, etc. Informally, you can go with just Marlboro, etc. Mailing a letter, for example. The signs on 495 say "Marlboro".......
This is just reality. It is the way it is. And I never said that "Marlborough" was incorrect.
    Hey there, pedantic one:
Next time think before you attempt to correct. In this case, you failed.
