If you don’t know what’s happening you must live under a rock. You’ll have some of the details tomorrow but it’s going to be a doozie...

No bullshit. You can’t make this stuff up. Good luck to all. I wish my younger colleagues all the best and I really mean that. I’ll be fine as I have almost 30 years in this crazy place and have saved, invested wisely and thank Merck for the generous benefits package.

Guessing the spinoff will result in layoffs - anyone have insight ?

Of course there will be some layoffs. Everything that we do will be under a microscope for the next few months as they evaluate efficiencies and redundancies. We should be prepared.

Can you be forced to take a position with the New Co. or would you have the option of a severance ?

Generally speaking, if you are offered a job then severance is not available, although geographic considerations come into play, I.e. they can place you x miles away from where you live...

What if position is not exactly equivalent? Big territory, travel, etc ?

You can breath now, it happened as the PPs said it would!

You are not getting a choice nor will you get a severance, management will make the decisions based on what makes sense for the two companies. You can either live with it or resign. Between 10-11k people moving over, you really think they intent to give individuals an option??
