The VDC Managers are not the problem, the problem is George Fennell's Napoleon complex and iron fist leadership style. It is well known all ideas and conversations start and end with him. If anyone has a conscience, ethics, morals or ideas for improvement, they better not express it. George has created a toxic culture where all are expected to stroke his ego, CYA and lie to survive.
Adam Read by far would be my pick. He has a personality of a rusted pipe. He is not an out of the box thinker and will always do whatever he can to advance his own personal agenda. How he is a manager still baffles me after all these years.
Have to admit I got a chuckle with the Adam Read description. Can’t say I disagree with the assessment. Definitely a tool.
I have been with IDEXX for close to 5 years. I could not disagree more with the comment about our Corporate Vice President, George Fennell. He has had an awesome impact on the company and is quite inspiring. He has helped changed the model so that the VDC’s are just that consultants- it’s no longer sales where we drop equipment and go, like old IDEXX was years ago because we just did not have enough reps in the field. The model now is education/ innovation based and helping the practice to grow. We are forging partnerships with the practices, hospitals and Veterinarians we work with. It’s a marathon and not a sprint. Yes, we are goaled on placing equipment just like most Sales positions - the toughest part is -it is quarterly, as is territory growth. IDEXX is an excellent company to work for. Yes, it is hard work but it comes with flexibility. You reap what you sew and if you work hard- you will grow in the company. After reading some of the posts here, it seems like a place to vent negativity. If you aren’t content- then change- and go work some place else. Simple as that....make room for sales reps that want to be here.

I joined the company 3 yrs ago (No animal health experience). I was a little surprised how Idexx typically only hires reps with previous animal health experience. I think the company is doing themselves harm by not looking outside the industry for new hires as well. I have done very well, and seen so many fail that have animal health experience, but lack motivation or the sales skills to be successful. Idexx has to do a better job with this moving forward. I have no problem with my manager. He stays off my back and allows me the freedom to get my job done without micromanaging.
GF makes me laugh and plenty others around here too! His style earns him no respect. No one in this place would ever cover his back. We should be the first to rally for him, it's just impossible to support someone so lack in transparency. Trust issues exist everywhere he operates. Waking up and looking in the mirror must be difficult. But you are the boss....
The guy cheated on his wife and walked out on his own kids. Then he sued to sell the house where they were living, leaving them homeless. You want honor? You want class? You want loyalty? This ain’t the guy for that. He is a zero. He is the lowest of the low. He is where you go to learn about scum. There is nothing of value here. Run. John, you’ve had more then enough time to get rid of this low life. It’s no longer about how terrible this guy is, it’s now all about how long YOU keep him around. You are the tainted one now.
John you have had enough time to deal with GF. What’s he problem with our leadership when they keep scum like this around? We all wonder.
GF was banging Liz T. at Pfizer/Zoetis, since he’s left she continued to bang other married guys while climbing the ladder.. she got married, I’m sure karma will be a bitch..literally
