The California Senate has passed a bill banning pharmaceutical companie's sales representatives from giving sales calls to doctors. California spent, non productive time doctors $1.4 billion in lost billable hours due to the industry in 2014-2016 the bill's sponsor says.
The legislation, Senate Bill 790, targets a common practice in the US that critics believe results in doctors ignoring generic drugs in favor of more high-dollar medications that drive up health care costs.

The bill would specifically restrict companies from sales calls, offering travel, consulting fees and other gifts to medical professionals.

"This bill is all about protecting patients, taxpayers and driving down the costs of prescription drugs," State Sen. Mike McGuire (D), the sponsor of the bill, said in a statement.

"Throughout the state, some of our largest hospitals and medical centers have realized the importance of limiting sales calls and gifts from the pharma industry to doctors — it’s time the state of California bans these types of sales representative interaction, gifts and incentives, which will put patients above profits."

Interesting. Hospitals and medical centers are the biggest frauds going. They need to be more regulated. Their costs of care are out of control.

Wow. You must be pretty bored to take the time to write up this weird and inaccurate post.

    All of this is untrue.

This proposed bill SB-790 is essentially a state-enforced sunshine act. It prohibits such payments and gifts to HCP's for information/research etc. Nothing new. In fact it states that this will be enforced when "sunshine is not being enforced."

It's a short and easy to read bill. I encourage you to check it out and ignore the weird post from the troll above. (By the way you gave yourself away with "companie's".)
