I have had wet macular degeneration for a number of years, but it has now changed to dry. I have been getting the avastin injections but am told that they don't help for the dry. Is there anything that has been proven to be successful in treating dry AMD?

Many pigment epethelial detachments (PED) are asymptomatic and do not require treatment. Some hide or harbor choroidal neovascular membranes and need VEGF (avastin or lucentis) injections. Medical thereapy such as you describe is rarely successful. JCH MD

Thanx Symptom is there she is suffering from blurred vision, doc suggested Angiography and laser approach in case medicine would not resolve it, is argon laser so promising or shall we directly think about avastin as you said? RGDS
