Democrats have reintroduced in both houses of Congress a Medicare drug price negotiation bill, at least the third proposed fix of the 2019 term. The Medicare Negotiation and Competitive Licensing Act, reintroduced by Rep. Lloyd Doggett (D-Texas) in the House and Sen. Sherrod Brown (D-Ohio) in the Senate, would empower the HHS secretary to negotiate drug prices with the threat of issuing a competitive license to a generics drugmaker if companies fail to negotiate in good faith.
