So short sighted...as usual. This is the last gasp for primary care. They have been signaling this to you guys for the last 5 years. Generics have arrived and the profit margins are in the negative. There is no pipeline and they are not looking to buy anything in the primary care selling space. It's all specialty sales. At GSK and with all major players in the pharma / biotech industry. If you are selected to stay, you have another year left of employment at GSK. You would be wise to get your resume in order regardless. Even those of us who are in a GSK specialty role are at risk. The odds are in favor of GSK being bough via hostile takeover and the products / assets being sold to the highest bidder. Most of us in Oncology, Respiratory and immunology are actively looking. Reach out to any of us and ask. Again, do yourself and your families a favor, move on to greener pastures.

But what if there aren’t any greener pastures to jump to? All pharma companies are dealing with the realization of the “new normal”. EVERY company is going to be eliminating redundant sales teams, which is going to lead to many many reps fighting for fewer and fewer positions. It’s time for a career change!! I feel bad for those pathetic 40 something PC reps who’ve squatted for the last 15 years instead of finding a way to improve their way out of primary care. They’re too old and numb to try to recreate their lives. It’s not going to end well for them

How many people got screwed? I’m so pissed. Waited 25 years for the buy out and they didn’t let me go. I hate this place

Yup raised my hand for package & was still retained!! Seriously why would GSK want to keep people who obviously don’t want to be here?!?

I’m sure they will just lay us off later in the year.

no more layoffs unless it is a result of a merger or takeover.
Getting divisions to the GSK Right Size will be thru attrition, like it or not.
Just as all the other benefits of the past have gone away, unfortunately the same is with regards to packages unless in the field you are a RVP or above.
Attrition will be achieved thru making life miserable so people quit and openings created will not be filled.
    That's the new GSK.

Packages are not going away , you get one if you are let go and didn’t violate any policies, you don’t get one if you quit.

Is Right Size still a thing? Can’t these consultants come up with a better phrase?

that is correct- packages have not gone away. packages are to minimize potential litigation.
With that said- aside from a restructure getting a package now days is next to impossible. directions upper mgt is to make life miserable for reps so they just leave the company then don't backfill in most but not all situations. packages cost a lost of money and in a time when sales have dropped and you can do nothing about that- you can cut cost of running the business through downsizing rep foot prints
