Quick question....going back to the original post and speaking of only the industry we are in. Why is it that there is really no biotech/pharma companies in Texas?

The vast majority of biotechs were founded and reside in California and Massachusetts, and the majority of Big Pharma's being founded and residing in the Northeast?

You Texans, who choose to work in Bio/Pharm, should thank CA, MA, and NJ everyday for creating companies for you to work at since your home state offered jack in this industry....what...you couldn't get a job in the oil business?

Galderma (owned by Nestle) is located in DFW. They are around a 3 billion dollar that has medical derm products, aesthetics (Restylane), and consumer (proactive and Cetaphil).

What's your point? Are you insinuating that Texas isn't qualified for pharma companies?

The #1 most profitable med ever is Humira produced by AbbVie. This company is not in California but they are out out the Chicagoland area. Funny how they bought out a Irvine, California based company called Allergan.

Would you like to debate other sectors-like energy? Houston has incredibly successful energy sector that brings in a sea of wealth compared to your government subsidized green energy companies in California.

How about Big Tech? If California is SOOO great why did Facebook build a data farm in Ft Worth? Why is Dell still in Austin? Why is Amazon based in Austin? Why did Apple and Google expand their satellite offices in Austin? The reason-only crazy people want to live in rent controlled San Fran. Sane people are tired of stepping around your homeless tent cities. It is unaffordable to live in Silicon Valley.

Pharma companies were primarily based in the Philly or NY/NJ areas. Companies have been breaking away from these markets for the past 15 years. Look at all the start up that are popping up across flyover states in the US.

I don't even live in Texas. I wish I did. But I am smart enough to NOT live in California.

Give it time Goober. The middle class tax payer is fleeing your state while illegals and homeless are flooding in.

Is Texas full of morons, or is just the reps that are idiots?

Keep this going. We're running circles around you, hicks.

You are using pew data from 2016 and Texas has less homeless people. Here is one for you with data from 2019 that shows that San Fran has one of the highest homeless population out of all cities in the US. LA is larger.

SF houses more homeless people than almost any other city

The middle class tax payers in California are tired of paying for social programs. That is why they are leaving California and that is why your state LOST a congressional seat. Why do you keep calling me a hick? I am not white. I didn't come from an elitist background. Why are you making this about social class?

Before you start throwing around stats on Austin's homeless population, you need to do some basic homework. First, most conservative and moderate Texas voters look down on people in Austin due to their liberal politics. Austin is the city that attracts most of the liberal leaning Californians that fled to Texas.

Second, even they got tired of the increasing homeless population. So what happened? In early May, Austin (not the suburbs: Austin voters) voted overwhelmingly (57%) voted to BAN homeless encampments. The law goes into practice on Tuesday.

Can you show me how LA or SF is actually doing something about these tent cities?

There are a lot of homeless laws on the books in LA. Don't worry. The ACLU will be coming for Austin.

Sept. 4, 2018, the 9th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals ruled in the case Martin v. City of Boise that cities could not prohibit homeless people from camping in public places unless they had adequate shelter available.

I will not be long before the 5th U.S. Circuit will have to deal with this, because unfortunately for Austin:

The article was published in 02/19, and that is the latest data that could be found. As for your article, you may want to go to the sourced website and check out a few pages of the data. Hint: TX does not look good.

You may not be a hick, but you're definitely a bigot. What does the color of your skin have to do with it?

Since you are an idiot, I'll make it easy for you.

You named one drug...that’s not from Texas. CA is the 6th largest economy in the world. Just stop you sound stupid...

Fleeing? The population grew by 2 million in 10 years...the decline in 2020 vs 2019 was 180k, and no not all 180k emigrated out of the state. It was the total decline, as stated many times before on here, contributing factors were of lower birth rate, Covid deaths and people not moving in at the same rate as years past, to cover those who moved out which was estimated to me a negative immigration vs emigration of about 36k. So less than 1%...you call that fleeing? You really are stupid...oh the CA housing market has never been hotter. Fun buying a house 10 years ago for 600k and selling it for 1.3M. You will never see that type of appreciation in Texas as the housing supply is flooded with cheap track homes.

Lastly the middle class has been dying in this country since the 80’s and California per usual, is the bellwether for the rest of the country.

Texas is flat, hot, humid and ugly. I don’t care how cheap the houses are or how low the cost of living is...the place is garbage. All these other arguments don’t matter...

You're all over the place. What are you trying to say?

Based upon your incoherent diatribe. You are not smart enough to live in California.

This is a perfect picture of HQ arrogance. If it was not for field based sales reps, managers, KAMs, and other non office based personnel, you would not have a job. Equally so, we as field based employees need the support of HQ to do our job. WE NEED EACH OTHER.

Quit attacking people because they choose to live outside of California. All of those fly over sates that you crap on in your posts represents customers we serve. I am shocked by the attack on non California posts. Shame on you!

This thread is named "Amgen Needs to Move to Texas," and the California people are the problem. Go read the initial post for this thread, stupid, and try again. Even better, STFU.

This entire thread is a perfect example of how divided we are as a country. I wish we could just shake hands and part ways. I mean if you Californians don’t like Texas so much, let’s let Texas take all of their military bases, agriculture, economy and business friendly tax principles and start their own country. I’m sure about 17+ other states would join in. Let’s see how long it takes before state’s like CA, NY, MA and others to go bankrupt and come crawling back to the booming economy that would be started by this separation. No way they could survive while giving away all of these entitlement programs. If you want people to thrive, give them opportunity, not handouts. All of these “fly-over” states that you hate so much are subsidizing all of your irresponsible spending. If you want to give stuff away as freely as you do, you need us and don’t think for a second that’s not the case. So stop throwing shade and biting the hand that feeds you.

Why do you think all of the liberal governors locked everything down for COVID so long? Because Pelosi, Schumer and Biden promised a bailout called the “COVID relief package” to rescue you arrogant, irresponsible, elitist states. You need us more than you realize, idiot.
