If GSK is acquired by another company or by hostile takeover, is GSK no longer required to provide retiree medical benefits to a rep even if a rep has qualified for it but hasn't retired yet?

You do know that they aren’t “REQUIRED” to do that now and can change that at any given moment. All perks, including retirement perks can go away at a moments notice.

That’s right about the lowly colonists, but we British are sound as a pound, baby!

Gsk will replace retirement bennies with “the jelly of the month club”...... “it’s the gift that keeps on giving Clarke”

Now that the two business units will be separate, there will be no takeover. Consumer will be just fine and pharma no matter how low the cost to take over, would you buy a turd for anything?

No company has to give retirement benefits so don’t bank in that. Build up your retirement portfolio. Also will still most likely be a hostile takeover since company will be a low cost to acquire once split occurs.

Why is this even a topic we are discussing?

Its being discussed because as employees we see first hand that GSK has poor management from the top down, the product portfolio is less than stellar and morale in the organization is at an all time low.
All this considered you'd have to be deaf and blind not to be thinking about packages.

If anything, you may be sugarcoating the situation. Not only is management incompetent but appear rudderless - constant changes in direction, priorities, etc.

As for the portfolio, the vaccines debacle can't be emphasized enough. They built a vaccine "center of excellence" up near the DC halls of power to cash in on the next pandemic and when it arrived, empty hands. What was GSK's last breakthrough? Mixing Tang with powdered aspirin to produce Orange Goody's?

Morale is rock bottom. There have been some Q & A sessions conducted to find the reason but it's an exercise where the conclusion was reached beforehand and the questions asked accordingly: "it's because you're working too many hours, isn't it?"

It would be a gift if we were taken over. Nothing could be worse than the culture and management we have here.

I would Measure morale by how many volunteered in the most recent layoff. Is is half of those that were let go? How many weren’t selected for their layoff request? Did more want to stay or go? And during a global pandemic who volunteers if they work somewhere that has a good culture

welsh management principle hasn’t worked well. This all started when the CIA was implemented. It saved a couple billion in fines but the patient first model likely did more damage than good and the culture never recovered.

As the person who turned GSK in to the feds for that 3 billion, (50 mill to me post tax) I am sincerely happy it had this effect on the company. Dirty company hurting children, and then came after me. Nice to know I won and continue to win! Yep one person can make a difference.

Something tells me the whistleblower wouldn’t be hanging out on cafe pharma and would be enjoying that beach house and the new lifestyle that came with it.

This whole site is a bunch of people blowing off steam. Exaggerations, impersonations, diversions and flat out lies. The content here is questionable at best. But hey, if you are that gullible, I’ve got some high quality swamp land in Florida you may be interested in.
