    Hey cafepharma,

I’d like some advice on a few things. I’m up for a senior manager position and wanted to ask if anyone had advice on how to negotiate salary and also interview questions. I’m coming from a nonpharma background and have been reading some threads but nothing that talks about the salary negotiation process and questions asked during an interview specifically for a senior manager position.

Does Amgen give a sign on bonus? Should I negotiate my total salary as a whole or separately like negotiate sign on, then base and lastly end of the year bonus? What ball park should I give for a senior manager position? I’ve found such conflicting information I don’t want to under sell or oversell myself. Also, should I even negotiate?

Lastly, what advice do you have for interviewing with hiring managers in terms of questions? Are the questions generally the same for all senior manager positions or different depending on specialty area?

Ha!! But he made it to the phone screen!!! I swear, this is exactly the type of person Amgen hires. People who have NO CLUE what they’re doing. Best of luck kid, you’re overly anxious questions and blatant lack of confidence is exactly what Amgen is looking for and will certainly wow them into making an offer on the spot. Name your price

Let me guess: You are a 30 year old "consultant" that is looking to share your mba knowledge on how to grow our business unit.

If you have to ask "how" to negotiate a salary, you have NO business getting a Senior Manager position.

I can almost certainly guarantee the last 3 comments were made by mediocre middle aged white dudes. No one uses “skippy” that was born after 1985, second comment assumes because you’re going for a senior manager position you’re a male and the third commenter is clearly going to get replaced by a younger, less jaded and non complacent individual, no cap.

Let this be a lesson to you, whether you are a man or a women, young or old, you’ll be dealing with people like the above, straight savages. Don’t let their negativity seep into you. They forget that they too were once young and anxious. It’s a good thing, just don’t let it show.

For your questions, interview questions are for the most part what you would expect in any high level position.

You should definitely negotiate your salary lol. Approach this like you would any other senior position. Don’t psych yourself out or overthink, not sure what background you’re coming from but if you made it to the interview with the hiring manager you def have the qualifications to be considered. Good luck and probably stay away from CP for advice, these vultures are jaded AF.

Agree with you! I'm not wanting to be nasty but the O/P is not real. No one interviewing for a senior manager position would ask any of these questions. Absurd

Great vocabulary there, but please feel free to judge others. Very professional.

All right straw man. Case in point, you’re being condescending (great vocabulary) then accusing someone of being judgmental because they are disagreeing with how nasty other commenters are being!! Wow, let’s play a game called guess what race and gender you are!!!!!!!!

Who goes out of there way to tell someone they aren’t qualified for a position because they’re trying to inform themselves and then assume they’re young and male!! I know who, someone that is clearly privileged that doesn’t even recognize it. I’m sorry but your comment is pure cringe. I see what you did there and need to be clear, people like you, are the reason I have white guilt.

Woooooah there horsey, they’re not being judgemental, you’re being condescending. What does being professional have to do with anything?

Wow! Well shouldn’t you win a participation trophy! How noble of you to admit your white guilt anonymously on CP!! No one has said anything about race or gender on here you crack pot, yet you jump to conclusions and point the finger at whoever doesn’t agree with you. Stfu.

There are likely many people interviewing for this position who aren’t imbecilic enough to scrape the ground for freebies on CP. if this individual (he/she/it/thing/whatever) didn’t want any scrutiny then they should have stayed away from the cavernous underbelly that is an anonymous online forum. You are all shitheads

and I don’t give a flying fuck what pronouns anyone uses. You’ve got too much time on your hands. If you don’t want someone to use the wrong pronoun for you, don’t be a transgender and make it confusing for others. Simple solution

Sr. Manager? Most I know sit in the 180-195k bucket, ask for 185k plus sign on RSU's and a fat check. Check all be cut within 60 days but you have to pay it back if you leave within 2 years.
