Big Pharma Hires = Big Pharma Culture

As a long-timer at DEX I can already see that with the many big Pharma management and rep hires from Novo, our time as a medical device company is transitioning to a metric driven drug rep calls per day model.

Not hating on the new folks and the expansion but I would have thought folks would not want to have that culture when they came aboard. Interesting times ahead.

That’s what happens with questionable management hires. Dexcom has never felt like a true med device company though.

Dexcom is getting very top-heavy with legions of VPs, SVPs, EVPs, CxOs, Sr Directors, Directors and the like. Many of these failed in big pharma (laid off or fired like Barry Regan (EVP Ops) kicked out of every job he had - Abbvie, Smith & Nephew, Stryker), failed in BD like Shelly Selvaraj (SVP IT), Chuck Donlon (SVP QA)): they got big bucks ($2M sign-on RSUs for Barry Regan in Q4 2020, and $3M 'performance RSUs bonus in March 2021 despite screwing up customer service and losing Walgreens' business in his 6 months here).

Our US sales team is led by someone with no sales experience, that says it all.

This feels nothing like big pharma! Thankfully.

Well, SS is a finance gal. She knows nothing about relationships. She is leading the sales force?? We may as well bring back Mosshead. This is getting ridiculous. We are blinded by the stock price and have a blinding lack of true leadership.

This definitely feels like Big Pharma but with more chaos and less money. As a newbie we were sold a bag of lies. The money and benefits are disgraceful.

Dexcom EVP Operations Barry Regan was walked out by security in Abbvie after multiple HR complaints that he mistreated native Puerto Rican employees at the PR site

He was also kicked out of Abbott after multiple complaints of bullying behavior, many directed at women & minority men

With one major exception - quality is key for big pharma, not so for Dx; Chuck D (idiot SVP QA) is so clueless, DX is now under intense FDA scrutiny (inspection ongoing @ SD site thsi week)

Barry R (EVP Ops) - terrible hire (11/20) - so many good people are leaving Dx to get away from this idiot that they have coined a term for this : "Dexodus"

Barry Regan is under HR & EEOC investigation for racial abuse of minority employees; Shelly is about to be fired for incompetence; the CFO QB who delivered fake numbers to drive up stock price was forced out (SEC investigation pending). This house of cards is headed for collapse.

Why are so many senior leaders retiring all of a sudden?

JN is driving running this ship straight into the ground. This guy is all about old school Pharma metrics, COD, R/F, bullshit. You really think those that retired wanted to deal with his BS? They cashed out and dipped. Good luck to the rest of us who can’t retire

On top of it being complete chaos the last 5 years that I have been here, it’s proven to be the most unethical organization I have ever worked for in my 25 years of medical sales experience……..and that is saying quite a bit. I’ve never seen anything like this anywhere else. I don’t know about you guys, but personally I don’t like being encouraged to lie and mislead physicians and medical professionals. I respect our healthcare community more than that.
