For this one, it's more about diversity across all functions. Look at how the IT department is staffed, analytical is staffed, and then also much of the laboratory. When you see predominately one race, sex, religion, etc., it is the job of HR (laughing right now since that is an oxymoron) to educate, monitor, and adjust to reflect needs of the company and environment. We also have to realize that when you rush to fix something, it never ends up well because then it flip flops and you are left often with people who have been promoted, hired, and recommended that are not qualified or that need so much help, the business ultimately suffers.
Asians are still pretty underrepresented in commercial leadership positions. It's like overall there's a ton, just like there's a ton of women, but they're in HR or sales or something.
It’s very sad. We once were a company that only had the very best that is available. It’s going to be very hard to be promoted or recognised if you don’t meet certain criteria. I feel sorry for the people I have developed since they actually have to leave now to be promoted.
As a non-minority for now, I say that Asians rock, they are the smartest and have the best work ethic in the world. They should be recognized for this. Others, well not so much.
