Look, it's pretty safe to assume every job out there (unless it is a commission only gig) in the device/supply, etc. industry stars with bases somewhere between 45k-75k. If you want exact details, it is going to be difficult to filter through the BS answers on this website. Go to a real website that is fairly reliable.

In general, 80 base, 20 draw. At large is territory dependent and probably ranges from another 30 on the low end to 120 on the very high end. Mileage and expenses.

That's really sad. My friends in the old days pulled down 200 to 500K....wow.Yes and Commision only and all expenses were the reps responsibility...small draw but who cares. hang out the carrot and the reps will flourish...the real carrot that is...

It is also wrong, there are still reps at Hill-Rom that make over 300K a year. I suspect those days are over though. I mean come on, lets face it, medical sales is like any other type of sales, you are generally worth what you know and can leverage. You just don't need to know much to sell beds or really any of the products that Hill-Rom sells. Quite whining that the good old days where you could make stupid amounts of money for selling basically a commodity are over and learn some skills. There are sub specialty sales markets in medical sales that still pay big dough but you better know your stuff or you will fail. I know people in Cardiology, Radiology and even Spine, that make tons of money but they typically know as much as the doctor they are presenting to. BTW, target salary for a bed rep at HR is around 170K, not bad in today's economy and market. The margins on most commodity products do not support huge wages, that is just the reality.

My friend, It is only a commodity if you cannot sell the features and benefits. That is like saying a car is a commodity. Maybe you are what is what is wrong with HR!

That last post is pretty funny - you have to learn to sell the feature and benefit to overcome the commodity objections. Sounds like a idiot sales manager. I love to sell against HR - reps are overconfident and don't hussle b/c they only get like 1% of the commission a deal (so who cares about the small deals), the products were innovative like 15 years ago - yesterday's technology at tomorrow's prices, and the maintenance/service is a joke. I pray HR never changes.
