Suceesfull or not, what Foundation Medicine is doing is truly changing cancer care. Unfortunately the current drug and guideline approval processes are an obstacle to patient care. Foundation Medicine provides the basic molecular diagnosis of a patient's cancer and the current guidelines don't allow the patient to get the therapy that can make a real difference.

The knowledge and technologies are ahead of the FDA and NCCN and because these organizations refuse to move forward, patients are dying every day.

Whether or not Foundation Medicine will ultimately be successfull may be in doubt. However, the future of cancer care rests on the success of such companies. We should all hope that they succeed.
