As a current PAML employee, I can tell you that there is something going on. The Lund report is annoying, but there is something happening. I don't feel comfortable going into specifics, but just know recent events add up. Sale to LCA or not, people at PAML have every reason to be on the alert right now.

It appears that several administrators have moved out of PAML and on to other roles. Lots of questions about the JVs too

I wonder who drew the short stick to announce it.

This has been in the works for a few years. No surprise, other than it took so long.

Anyone know what Labcorp plans to do with the Spokane facilities? They do have a state of the art lab. would they keep the lab running under Labcorp? Keep the draw stations and couriers? Close the support services like billing and admin and absorb them in to their own centers?

I would assume gut it and Providence will sell the property. Lab too can afford to fly all the esoteric testing to their Seattle lab, and STAT testing can still be performed at area hospitals.

Knew this was in the wind. As an employee of one of the mentioned joint venture lab systems, we heard several weeks ago, but we are Providence employees, so we weren't for sale, only some joint ventures would go their way. All I can say is that the nuns used to run the show, and then it was the most awesome place to be. Now that corporate has professional business heads, it has taken a more callus tone. Still, happy to be a Providence employee. I wish all my friends up in Spokane the best. Lab Corp maybe the competition, but I'll never despise PAML, only Quest Diagnostics gets that treatment.

From your view in the Northwest, what's the difference between Quest and Labcorp?

I'm in the Seattle area and there is only one Quest location. It's in Bellevue. It's not a very accessible area for anybody outside of the downtown area. The most patients feel that it's just not even an entity here they have no presence.

Patient service center and blood draws, got it.
From a laboratory side I've always viewed Quest as higher quality than LabCorp. From a former dynacare person perspective

If you've ever seen the Quest warehouse lab near West Hills, you'd think twice. Imagine an industrial warehouse with testing instrumentation and all open air with a 50 foot ceiling. Concrete floor. Scary, considering most competitive laboratories with controlled air systems nowadays. Imagine a mob run methlab, and that's the feeling I had.
