We got sold pennies for a dollar to a small PE firm who has nothing to do with pathology. We are told exciting times with a bright future!!

the new owner is our best chance for a future...i'm counting on them bringing in an executive team that knows how to run a business, has ethics, competes in the market and hires smart people..

Amen brother. But chances of that happening are grim. If new owners decide to do business with ethics, the revenue and whole marketing structure will collapse before it can start going up. The current management has made it to race to the bottom with revenue splitting, kickbacks, aggressive marketing, overbilling etc.

And you all expect an equity firm to do all that? They are not in the business of bringing ethics, better management, and investments for future growth. These firms just cut, trim, sell and move on. I never thought in my life that doctors would be subjected to all this. Again who considers pathologist a physician. They are glorified techs who can have no say what so ever.

Its like selling a manufacturing unit to a scrap dealer and expect bright future and exciting times ahead. Sure!

Overbilling the payers for years, milking the system. Finding and exploiting any and every loophole possible to continue to run tests and bill absurd amounts. Paying reps on percentages of billing, giving kickbacks, setting TC labs to doctors and staff for directing samples to lab. Reps acting as "recruiters" finding any low-hanging reps and pooling them pyramid-scheme style to increase samples. Everyone got a cut. It was pretty f**ked up. Went on for quite a few years under the leadership of people like RL.

The MD's should have taken the physician practice to Miraca as a separate entity when it was sold 5 years ago. Could have just by-passed slimy RL. You could do it now, HS and GL!!

All were successful labs as long as they were run by MD's. Things went south once they sold these to the big guys. Look where we are now.
