Most of the reps that I speak too are millennia's (born between 1980 and 2000). These are the majority of the people within the field sales organization that I know for a fact will be leaving if the compensation plan does not change dramatically as I referenced in my previous post. The more tenured reps that have stayed since the compensation fuckery began in 2008 are probably in this for the long run to be honest. The tenured reps I meet by and large are lazy as hell and love the lifestyle.
Don't get me wrong...I love this company and lifestyle, but I'm not going to sit here and watch Depuy Synthes counterparts make 200k+ for opening boxes while I am lucky to break 100K this year. Hell, the intuitive associate reps make more than most of our TAL's.
Leslie, I know you'll never read this, but any executives that read this should encourage her to make this comp change happen fast! I know so many people interviewing as we speak. Take on Depuy Synthes comp model. It's far superior because reps are paid on total business, not these Kip-Japan bullshit strategic buckets. It will be more expensive in the long-run to hire a bunch of kids from enterprise rent-a-car and try to retrain them to do a 5-minutes sales call with your pitiful Ethicon academy curriculum. Its truly an embarrassment to call myself an ethicon rep at the moment and I hope this changes soon.
