Don't blame someone for joining Sage & trying even though it was a terrible mistake.

Comments on other threads blaming someone for joining a new company are absurd. Sage told everyone they were a biotech company and of course people took them for their word. You can't blame someone for wanting to be part of a new company and launch and stepping out of their comfort zone and giving it an attempt. Now the reality that Sage is a wolf in sheep's clothing has surfaced, many have begun to look for something else. The reality is that most of the smart, experienced people hired have realized they were lied to and now begin to pick up the pieces and start looking for a more solid opportunity. Of course there are still young, less experienced employees that will be slower to realize this and admit they made a mistake. Or, they simply don't know any better because this type of micro-managed culture is all they have known.

Region Sales Heads, like Chris B, are the epitome of what is wrong with the company and will lead to its over-managed downfall. Leaders like this lack true integrity and sincerity and give the same disingenuous compliments to every employee, while holding a tight leash around their throats till they slowly choke or leave. His lack of experience with only companies with this mentality, is a big part of the problem.

Weak managers like Chris B manage through policies, spreadsheets and edicts. They don't listen. They don't care about building trusting relationships with their teammates. Their personal messages are often carbon copies left to everyone. Personal becomes impersonal. They lead through metrics because thats all they know how to do. Pay attention to your manager. There are two other distinct signs you have a poor leader or manger. First, when your manager always sticks to the company policy, even when the policy is obviously makes no sense. They are a terrible manager and won't have your back. They don't buck the system. They don't want confrontation. Second, if your manager tells you to tamp down your expectations, keep quiet about important topics, keep every topic positive and never bring up the negative, and generally keep your head low to avoid getting in trouble, all are huge signs they are a terrible manager. Sage, sadly, is full of this type of manager. Be wary of people like Chris B and his minions.

Sage is not the company that was advertised to us. Tagging #thisissage on your LinkedIn posts does not define the company culture. Your false pride and fake advertising have been exposed and most of us are looking to leave.

I completely agree! I am so pissed I was sold this pile of crap. This is nothing more than a grade c level small pharmaceutical company. Training was a joke. The kissing up is a joke. No transparency here at all. Try getting answers at home office. JOKE! The sale leadership has already shown they only care about metrics and call reporting. If my manager doesn't get off my ass already, I am going to scream. I've prepared my husband that I will be quitting and will try to find something else before I totally lose it. They have provided no tools. They are hyper-sensitive to compliance and we can't even do lunches. Offices will never let us in with the restrictions they are wanting to instill. This is NOT a biotech company. Trust no one here. Don't complete a survey here. They track everything. Not once have they addressed the bonus plan. That was my fatal flaw and I should have addressed that stronger in the interview. I hate my manager who lied in all the interviews. They need to take manager training classes on how to be a good manager. What a follower with no brain-cells! I have a manager that would NEVER back their employees and will always toe the line, without challenging it. No one is real here. MISTAKE MISTAKE MISTAKE!!!!

We don’t blame you for seeking out an opportunity that seemed to be amazing. We blame those of you who left your previous companies with your noses held high and obnoxiously cocky attitudes. Don’t burn bridges and stay humble. Not everyone did this but those of you who did know who you are.

As much as it feels to good to insult this person, it’s best to not respond to them or else it’ll encourage them to continue. Everyone must ignore the loser.

This by far was such a great prediction of the future just 1.5 years later. It couldn't be more accurate. I agree with every single word of this post and also felt from the very beginning I had made a terrible mistake coming to such a terrible company. I remember hearing that the company was so shocked when they got word there were so many negative postings about this company and thinking really? They are shocked? The working culture at Sage was toxic from day one.

Who ever was cocky?! I can personally tell you that I was just grateful for a new opportunity. I have never burned a bridge and in terms of the peers I have met while working at Sage, it doesn't seem like they did either. At the end of the day, the industry is difficult and we all have to help one another.

If you or someone else is going to make a bold statement about someone, then spill it. Are you talking about sales reps? Are you talking about managers? I'm basically trying to just do my thing and live my life. One thing I am not, is cocky and I have always left a company respectfully.

90% of biotechs fail or get sold! If you do not have a C in your title you are at risk.
