Criminal Labs!

Most labs that just do toxicology are crooks. They got into the is business to make a quick buck and then sell to an equity firm. AIT, PCLS, Castle, Ameritox, Dominion, Drug Scan, AEON, Accurate Diagnostics (the Russian owned lab), Cordant are just a few that the DOJ should investigate. Well AIT and PCLS are both gone now, but the others should be investigated. Any lab that gets over $300 for a drug screen and confirmation are crooks. Both those tests cost the lab about $30 total to run! No lab should be allowed to get licensed unless they are a full service lab. These labs are all having trouble getting in-network contracts with insurers because they are not full service. Most insurers are making it almost impossible to get paid for out of network claims as well. These labs are all struggling with collections and cry they can't make a living. Well they ripped off the system for 10 years and now the bill is coming due! If you are a Sales Rep only work for full service labs and don't expect to make $500k per year. That was a fantasy and greed. $200-$300k for top reps is about it. Get you head out of your asses and actually go work!

You are absolutely correct. We have seen bad business practices from Universal Clinical Labs, Lehigh Valley Toxicology, Sun, Mission, Total Toxicology, Genesis, Vidas, Vantari, MD Global, to name a few. They all have their own way of figuring out cost of goods, payment of staff, etc. In the end, the deals ALL favor the lab and their billing company, leaving a murky mess for the rep/distributor. ( often with doctored reports).
Lehigh and Universal are currently being sued by a class of reps. Some of the others are on the blocks as well. Total Toxicology and their head sales rep completely distort the figures that they report to their independent reps. I was told that their motto is "at least we pay". I suppose that $0.50 is better than $0.0, but are you being paid appropriately for your time? My suggestion is look for a larger corporate entity who has oversight and checks/balances in play to protect the lab and practice. Volume is the way to earn a living, not bilking the insurances for 1,000-4,000/sample.

Don't forget Parkway Clinical Lab outside Philadelphia. They never pay!

Can you contact me about these lawsuits? I was severely affected by the labs you mentioned and want to know how I can participate. mpmmlc@gmail.com

Thanks.

This whole paying for lab sales is going to get very interesting. I see the distributor type arrangements going out the window. No rep wants the lab to pay their distributor as a W-2 which everyone is going to have to do and then have that distributor have to pay their reps out of the income that is left AFTER the taxes have been deducted. I see more and more labs saying to hell with this, we are going to sign up our own people with zero distributors moving forward.

May I ask who the head sales rep is?
