Lab/Telemed Needed for CGX PGX Samples

No Telemedicine physician can order CGX testing and it not being a screening test. CMS does not pay for screening tests. The whole point of CGX testing is that the information be used to guide the physician who will be providing ongoing care for that patient and not someone who maybe had a 5 minute conversation with a patient at best. More than likely that physician will never even speak to that patient again or have any interaction. The only way it works is for the primary care physician to determine if the test is medically necessary and should order the test. You also could never ever pay a telemedicine physician for that work as that's another way to get into major legal trouble.

The OIG just put out an Advisory Alert to avoid diagnostic companies and marketing companies that push TeleMedicine doctors for CGX & PGX. The Government is on to this scam already. Move on to a legitimate lab!

What scam...your an idiot. Groups will be going into dr offices and adding Cgx and Pgx to a drs office. You telling us how the primary care this and that, many pcp dont even know what the criteria is of these tests, yet you want them to approve the test???? My pcp must approve an alignment on my car...even though some dont know. What makes you think a pcp will do the follow up, some tested people might go to another doctor. CRAZY STUFF AT VIKOR...SCOTTY IS NUTS I HEARD.

I lost brain cells reading this complete disaster. Please return to elementary school Billy Madison!

It's surprising how many uneducated people have made their way into this industry.

You are the one that doesn't know what's acceptable or not. I totally agree with the poster that said No Telemedicine physician can order Genetic testing and it not be fraud because they cannot have an ongoing relationship with a patient due to the fact they only address acute problems and do not manage chronic medical conditions that should be managed by your family physician.

These tests are of no value unless the physician uses the results to help provide better healthcare in the future. CMS does not cover screening tests and they have stated that any lab billing for a screening test is committing fraud.

If your' primary care physician is not educated about these tests then now is the perfect time to find someone much more up to date because personalized medicine is the wave of the future. The days of simply throwing the dice on which medication to use is over for educated patients and physicians. There is a great reason why St. Jude's does PGX testing on every single patient and it's because it is smart medicine and reduces adverse drug reactions which is the 4th largest killer in this country.

I heard yesterday that even Vikor has announced that they are no longer going to accept any tests from telemedicine physicians so clearly the word on the streets is that the game is up on telemedicine.

Scotty told me a month ago that his attorneys contacted Medicare and telemedicine was ok...then something happened. Its clearly getting to a point telemarketers and marketing people must go, leave it to a MD to explain and administer tests. Marketing companies getting 1500.00 on a cgx is insane. You should not be allowed to setup etc to have face to face interaction with a potential screener..scammer. Then audit every lab and check who signed cgx..pretty simple. Requisition forms must be on doctors letterhead, this avoids the marketing nonsense. Big changes are coming.

You are insane if you think for one second that requisitions forms are EVER going to on the doctors letterhead. LabCorp and Quest do not print forms on the doctors letterhead. What an idiot.

CLIA guidelines state all lab orders must be on the requisition form or electronic order from the lab. You are a MOOOOOOROOOOOON! Just stop ripping off the system and leave. All non-W2 sales people need to go away! You ruin everything and then complain that the insurers and government are out to get you. Your are crooks and should be in jail!

Medicare should of stopped paying on all these tests. So all this fraud and medicare continued paying all along..cmon

WTH? You don't throw out the baby because their bathwater got dirty. Sure, some people tried to cheat the system but that happens in almost every industry. With your logic they should stop paying for all medication because some pharmaceutical companies bribed some doctors into writing their medication.
Where would people be then using your insane logic? SMH

It isn't the test that is to blame, it is the people marketing it incorrectly or the doctors who were being bribed to order it or the patients who were paid to get it or the sales reps who were illegally paid. These genetic tests such as CGX and PGX can be VERY useful and lifesaving tools IF they are used correctly. The 4th leading cause of death in the US is ADR (Adverse Drug Reaction) and you can't convince me that if their doctors had the information from PGX testing that they could not have avoided a lot of those deaths. They never should have stopped paying for topical pain creams but simply lowered the amount they paid or simply put a cap on the amount but they reacted like you just did and totally stopped it which pushed people that might have been fine without any opioids back to the risks we all know about.

When some labs were illegally paying doctors to do drug tests imagine the problems if we followed you logic and simply stopped paying for drug testing or when some of the labs promoting advanced lipid testing should they simply stopped all coverage of those tests too because of the actions of a few?
Wow, I can't imagine the crazy logic you use everyday.

If you want to stop Fraud in the lab industry start locking up the doctors that sign for the orders. Once doctors start going to jail, others will not follow in their footsteps. Also put out guidelines that make sense. CMS always goes to far with the guidance. They should ask the lab industry for input before over reaching. Look how long it took to get proper guidelines from CMS on drug testing. We are in a f*cked up world fight now!

Dude, it you read the DOJ page you would see that they ARE putting the doctors in jail who were ordering this for patients without seeing them or ever even talking to the patient. In fact I would be willing to bet that in 90% of the cases they never even looked at any of the patients info and simply signed the required paperwork.
