No Telemedicine physician can order CGX testing and it not being a screening test. CMS does not pay for screening tests. The whole point of CGX testing is that the information be used to guide the physician who will be providing ongoing care for that patient and not someone who maybe had a 5 minute conversation with a patient at best. More than likely that physician will never even speak to that patient again or have any interaction. The only way it works is for the primary care physician to determine if the test is medically necessary and should order the test. You also could never ever pay a telemedicine physician for that work as that's another way to get into major legal trouble.
The OIG just put out an Advisory Alert to avoid diagnostic companies and marketing companies that push TeleMedicine doctors for CGX & PGX. The Government is on to this scam already. Move on to a legitimate lab!
