    Hi all,

I have about 7 years of medical device experience selling to hospitals, and it's unfortunately all I know. I think I may be getting burnt out and I'm curious what life is like in other industries. I have some friends who work in different sales industries calling on large corporations. For example, Dell, Lenovo, Cisco, Red Hat. I am wondering whether you think any of these companies would find our sales background suitable for an Account Manager role. I've heard that Salesforce.com is a great company to work for. I also know a few people who work for electrical distributors, calling on electrical contractors. Seems a lot different since they are doing a lot of wining, dining, and entertaining.

Has anyone every explored any of these options? What would be pros and cons and would it ever be something you considered if you were to leave our industry? Can we make more money? I'm talking a min of 150k or more, and still have a life outside of work.

    Thanks in advance.

If you want a stable industry, check out Otis, and other elevator companies.

However, corporate is corporate. They are all the same. You are never going to "get the best of it" over a corporation.

Corporations want your soul, and more often than not, they will get it. But, it doesn't have to be that way. Just find a good manager that "gets it", and you can even exist well in a corporation. It is what it is. Life is what you make it.

Favor to you, in whatever you decide. Just get a grasp of how much energy you are putting out there vs. the money you are making. Money is energy. The life force, your existence, is far more important. Don't live you life for a company. Sadly, most do. And then before they know it, life is over. Choose wisely. Use your free will wisely. And best, don't get married or have children, unless you are a woman because women get all the advantages in this realm.

Curious to know what sort of company you work for. I’ve had a good manager who gets it and who was not a yes man. He fought for his reps if we needed him and otherwise he left us alone. Unfortunately managers like that are few and far between these days. Seems most of them are now retired and the new young ones just ask how high when they are asked to jump. Coincidentally my girlfriend is currently pressuring me to get married, but I’m not giving in.
