That's stating the obvious. It's hard for any medical device company to sell devices for surgery when the majority of elective procedures have been cancelled.
Hospitals don't care about any value added nonsense we bring. After this Covid-19 is over the new normal will be very few reps allowed to enter a hospital. Ethicon AEs are not needed for a procedure to take place. Our friends Leslie Storms and the AVPs will have no problem cutting reps when corporate says the adjusted revenue Ethicon has to report to JNJ. Reps will be let go all over the country as well as people in Somerville and Cincinnati.
All the great talk about our digital surgery platform is hyperbole. It will be scrapped by 2022 and we will still be talking about endocutters to customers.
Mark my words, October 2020 will be a bloodbath regardless of when Covid-19 restrictions are lifted.
Everything will be very different when this is over and after it is over it will take a long time. No one will want any sales person in a hospital or other healthcare facility, clinic, etc. nor will offices. No one wants a lawsuit, everyone will need to tested and these companies will do what is best for them. If that means more thinning out, less management etc. Enjoy the $ cash for now for doing almost nothing except virtual.
