How would you describe the work culture at Abbott?

I am considering an opportunity at Abbott after being contacted by a recruiter. The recruiter told me work/life balance at Abbott is above average in the industry. Any opinions from those who already work for Abbott?

Depends upon the function:

- IT - nasty toxic culture, need to suck up to survive
- Quality - lower quality standards, hide problems, and you can skate free (if you raise quality issues, you will be harassed and forced out)
- Operations: you have to be one of the old boys club and you will survive

Overall, the less you do, the more you socialize with powerful people, the higher you will get

And, if you are a people manager, crush your team down, and suck up to your boss - that will get you ahead

Remember when Abbott spun off Abbvie? Turns out that little Ricky had been lying about his education for years. No degree. This does not mean he was not a good leader, but Miles just told everyone in the company to shut up about the lie. So if the average employee did this they would be fired instantly. Good old boys...
