This is not a sales job anymore.

If a doc wants to see me, that is great....I get a chance to sell my product...plus I'm 2nd in the region in sales.....Do the letters M & F mean anything to you?

prove to us you sold anything on your hapless visit. As for being second, prove that too? Market share? Actual $$? Or, percent of subjective quota? What did you sell on your visit??? I know…maybe you got a had shake!!! What did you leave w????

the job is what you make of it. I choose to be positive and do the best I can. Some days are better than others, but like the above poster I'm #1 in the Region, so my bonus will be Nice! If you have a "Chip" on your shoulder, does the words "Byte Me" come to mind.....Losers!

number 1 in what? Have your product preferred status in managed care? Number 1 in market share? What? Please elaborate since neither one of you proved you sold anything but rather rode the coattails of a good situation

haha I’m number 1… probably 4 time presidents club too… haha

Yep, it is hard to see docs, so I try to get the nurse all the info I can, along with her favorite snack.
Well, it's working as some docs will SEE me. And my sales are increasing. So, it can be done.
If your a...Moron...Please raise your hand!

Yes, being nice to the Office staff works...anyone who tries it...it works....

Most intelligent people are seeing the corruption of this industry these days, as information is flowing at a more rapid pace.

Also, the latest medical crisis that started in early 2020 showed the lack of integrity of this industry.

Doctors are really useless with the exception of prescribing a few decent products that might control blood pressure and blood sugar.

Even surgeons do work that is unnecessary.

Total crap show in healthcare today.

Plus with Medicare-D...coming out in 2006...it gave the pharmacy co's....license to increase their prices...that got this Ugly Ball rolling..

Yep.

Really don't know what to make of it anymore. I really feel bad for the district managers that are in full throttle with this terrible career. These people only survive by motivating their sales reps, and have to be total intellectual rejects at this point to get behind this industry.

The reps as well are just in a terrible spot.

That is why I keep my expenses down so I can have flexibility to do other things. Getting a big mortgage (which is what I have seen way to many younger reps in this industry do) is the absolute worst thing you can do because as you get older and wiser, you can see the scam that this industry truly is.

I would say that moving to medical device with a smaller, specialty company is the way to go (not bad companies like Medtronic or Stryker or Intuitive, etc). But, a small company that values its people and is not so greedy or has to play up to investors. Go with a small, private company with less than 500 employees and good tech and you are going to have a much better career, have more fun, and probably make more money.

Good post.. there are good products out there that make a difference. I used to work for pharma, but now I'm in device and i could never go back. What I've seen over the last couple of years with pharma really woke me up.

Early 2020 and the Jibber Jabber should tell you everything you need to know.

So many companies, even today with all the data coming out, are encouraging the Jibber Jabber.

Unbelievable. Makes me really embarrassed to say that I worked for these terrible companies over the years, mostly as a naive recent college graduate that thought (wrongly) this industry was about health.

I entered in '97 and left in '09. My final 3-5 years were filled with corporate scripts and request for signature to receive more information, bc we were not allowed to consult our clients anymore (aka sell). When I entered, I went through a 2 yr training program, which involved visits to home office 1-2 months at a time for intense training and competency testing. Thank God. It was the foundation that provided a winning path for me during my career in the field.

I'm in pharmaceutical manufacturing (CDMOs, CROs) now-on the PM side. We manufacture for big Pharma and other client who pay for the right to market and slap the name on the product. Keep your mind open to these opportunities. There are less; however, the sales side is aggressive and truly involves closing the deal/ landing the contract. If you are brave enough, I encourage you to seek opportunities there. But, this is not for the sample dropper/promotor/share of voicer...You have to be gritty, learn your content and drive opportunity.

I just wanted to be a source of positivity for someone out there that decides they really want to stay in this industry.
