pharma/medical sales and going nowhere in life.

This industry is the road to nowhere.

Just look at the older people in this industry. They are beat up, angry, and entitled. Do you really see any of these vets that are happy getting micromanaged and having to do field rides with alcoholic managers that have four year degrees with a 2.2 GPA?

That is where we are at these days if you stay in this industry. Going nowhere in your career and surrounding yourself with dummies.

My problem is what next? I think I waited too long to make a change. I basically want to do a job and be left alone. The entitlement of some office staff is nearly unbearable.

Nothing is next.

Save up is all you can do.

Find good managers with leadership qualities. It's hard in such a weak minded industry, but a few are left over from the pre 2000s.

At this point:

If you are still doing this job after 5 years you’re probably an unconfident loser.

If you’re over 50 and still wanting to do this job you’ve probably a loser.

If you’re on your 2nd or 3rd company and think you have to stay you obviously don’t believe in yourself.

If you think you have to hang in there because of the Golden Hand Cuffs you better have more than 12 years w/ ONE company. Any less and you have zero confidence and must be dumb as a rock.

This is true for big pharma hacks.

The sharper people are with smaller and privately held companies that don't micromanage.

It always cracked me up during downsizing season why people were so panicked over the possibility of losing their stupid big pharma job, as if the job was so great.

And I came to the conclusion that these hacks are not good at sales, and lack the intelligence to figure out better opportunities than working for the micromanaged and corrupt industry if pharma/medical sales.
