That makes much more sense. Private equity wouldn’t touch a company like BIO unless it was to part it out to the highest bidders… which is not a totally unreasonable notion since BIO has tried and failed to achieve US market relevance for decades never cracking 10% share. Not sure if Max should be admired for continuing to stand strong against the big three or pitied for the fools errand.

Not sure if Peter E would want anything to do with BIO again either. Word on the street is that he and Walters are sworn enemies now.
 


As long as Bio in the US is profitable for more than a few million, what does he care? He does almost nothing with Bio USA, so I'd think that it's like passive income for him... Maybe eventually he would sell it for a big payout, but for now it's a nice income stream!

Bio USA has the highest cost ratio of any Bio region which is not at all surprising given the costs to do business in the US. The company also not surprisingly pulls in the highest ASPs from the US however its profitability in the US has been on the decline for years and the only way it has remained profitable is to deinvest. The field size is shrinking, programs are shrinking, even the much lauded Fellows Program is shrinking. Multimillion dollar settlement agreements don’t help the cause either. It’s a vicious spiral with no clear escape. VI and SCS aren’t really the answer to the CRM decline either since they are both commodity markets themselves. The company is not healthy.
 


US is a commodity market where implanters have not only great choices but, are always looking for opportunities to partner with vendors for $$ reasons. Margins have gone from say 80% to 50% in recent years but the margins are very good overall

Whining isn’t tolerated anymore and 8 hour days are the minimum it would seem. Start working and stop posting or you will find yourself at Abbott.
