Eagle Cam

The eggs are due to hatch sometime after March 23 or so - It will be fascinating to see the eaglets in the nest. Right now, seeing the pair of eagles take care of the eggs, eat, and interact has been very cool indeed.

While I was at an AKC hunt test with the dogs this weekend, a big ass bald eagle was hunting over us while we were out in the field. It was cool as hell, although we were supposed to be watching the dogs. They were probably after the quail we put in the field for the dogs to point. We left plenty behind for them to snack on later.

At 8:15am Sunday just witnessed the changing of the guard. One flew in and the other flew off. The Eagle that flew in turned the eggs. By the way, is this nest in Hanover township?

The nest is in Hanover Township - There was a great changing of the guard yesterday when the male brought the female a bite to eat.

At 5:10 the guard changes.

The snow has melted away.

BN, Mr. Dump thanks you for putting this on....I haven't done laundry or cooked all weekend because I've become addicted to the cams.....

BN, did you know that if a female egg opens first, she will likely kill the little brother....because she's bigger.

And a bad ass.

Also, juvenile eagles will attack a nest and kill the eaglets....because their mean. They just swoop in and peck the little suckers to death.

I didn't realize that the eaglets where so bad ass. I had heard that adults are among the most ruthless of all birds.

Let's hope both eggs hatch and the siblings are civil to each other.

they won't -- they were 3 days apart...and juveniles are bigger than their parents.....until they start doing ALL their own thing.

I have to tell you, I've been completed consumed with these birds....I wish I lived close enough to witness one flying around. There was a juvenile a few years back that was taken to one of the local veterinarians -- it had a lot of buckshot that had become infected. He saved it and it was returned to the wild several days later.
