Rare renal

Starting a thread for any insight. I saw that at least some of the TLLs have started. The RD spots were posted not long ago, too.
I used to work at Novartis, so, yes, I know there are many issues, but I may be getting laid off soon, so….
If I recall, the rare disease (Ilaris) reps were a higher pay band than the reps in the other divisions (at least that’s what my former ABL & Ilaris overlay told me). Does anyone know if that’s still the case?

Thanks in advance.

That is true

please dont go to that division. total s*show from the beginning. ludicrous projections. too many people trying to see too few customers.

How many reps? There are a lot of nephs in the country (twice that of rheums) and they should have 3 neph indications for it in the next 2 years. That being said, I thought that some of the TLL territories seemed rather small. I have to say that I do not miss having that role in an organization. Lol

I am assuming that RDs are hired since the postings are closed. Would love to know the timeline for the mangers and reps.

What about the ABLs?

Jobs posted today. Hoping to have them hired by end of Feb, I think. I’m a little worried that they won’t be treating these as real rare disease spots like they do the Ilaris roles. Ilaris reps are account managers. The ABL posting references managing Sales Specialists. They are not going to get rare disease experience if they pay what they do for sales specialists.

Is it true Novartis is not allowing internal candidates to interview?

I have heard that senior leadership wants reps with nephrology relationships - so that may take a lot of internal candidates out of the running. Additionally they want rare disease experience. Novartis talks a good game as far as developing their people but then they put all these restrictions into job postings that remove most internal candidates from the process. It’s why many people end up leaving

I don’t know, but I would be surprised if that were the case since one of the RDs was technically an internal hire - came from AAA. That being said, Novartis isn’t known for giving any preference for internal candidates, and if they are willing to pony up for rare disease experience, then I doubt many internal candidates will be better qualified than external.
