It just doesn;t stop; Trump mistakes Harlem for Harvard.

Dear Vegetarian, I've had an epiphany recently, which I would ask that you consider:

We have never really had a POTUS who enjoyed trolling and, as they say in the UK, taking the piss out on people. From AI photos as the pope, to jokes about a third term and due process, this President's frankness and penchant for zingers and hyperbole, and while often offensive or outlandish, and a new take on decorum, is not equivalent to the sky falling. Words have consequences, yes, but they are also just bursts of hot air. The man just speaks his mind, sans filter, like my WW2 Vet grandfather whenever went into a Japanese restaurant (cringe worthy). He can't help himself. But that doesn't mean you should take everything he says literally or that he will or can actually do what he says. He knows people are prone to overreact these days and are suckers for sarcasm. He knows which knee-jerk liberal buttons to push. So what should you and the Democrats do? What would you do if this was a bully in 3rd grade?...Ignore it. Stop hanging on every word. Stop whipping up the extremists in your party into a frenzy. To the point of absurdity and the rejection of common sense in setting policy and discourse (for example, demanding rule of law but not enforcing laws in sanctuary cities, or demanding fairness but letting dudes set records in female sports). Not letting go, not compromising, not ignoring it, just makes you and the party look bad. Like you can't handle shit. I mean, if one old man can set you off with words, how would you or the party fare in WW3? IMO, that is a path to political irrelevance (BTW, AOC and Bernie draw crowds of progressives, but they aren't gonna draw voters).

Just some advice from a legit neutral, independent.
Your 'epiphany' would hold water if it was just him blustering but the problem is, if the bluster doesn't w ork, he turns it into truth.
Consider his attacks on the First Amendment as he tries to set himself up for the one who 'decides' what is truth for the rest of us.
  • Trump defends saying 2020 election was stolen using first amendment. His attorney, John Lauro, states that Trump actually believed it was stolen therefore he was able to state it with first rights protection.
  • Trump’s Executive Order 14149 gives a person absolute Freedom of Speech, which is already, supposedly, a freedom guaranteed by our Constitution.
  • Trump rails against 60 Minutes segment showing interview with Kamela Harris before election. Again, he is entitled to his opinion.
  • When being a cranky old man turns into something else – a lawsuit.
At the time CBS News released the full transcript of its conversation with the Democratic presidential nominee, the network said it “is always guided by the truth and what we believe will be most informative to the viewing public, all while working within the constraints of broadcast television.”

The president’s latest criticism of the network, just one of his media targets, comes as his attorneys enter reported settlement talks with Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS News and a conglomerate that is currently working to secure a megamerger with entertainment

“These antics are why the American People have no trust in the Press,” Trump wrote, “… and demand that the Media, very much including 60 Minutes, CBS, and its owners, be held responsible for their corruption and lies, which is exactly what we are doing in Court!”\

In court? Do you get this? This is where your angry old grandpa just blowing smoke breaks down. If his joke doesn't work, he goes after your freedom that he guarantees for himself - and he goes after it in such a way that it will cost you money, a career or what he REALLY wants - he wants you to fear him and fear jail time. And this is hanging on every word?

Sorry S & S. Actually, it's recognizing him for what he REALLY is. A wannabe, mafia boss schooled by a mafia attorney Roy Cohn.

V,

I agree with you, in part, and disagree, in part. Yes, Trump is as mafia as a Kennedy. And yes he is vindictive. But all the examples and evidence you provide above still amounts to outlandish comments, what he says.

My point is, that doesn't mean lawless sanctuary cities, a borderless nation exploited by aliens, blank checks to Europe, and a soft approach to jihadists and trade with China are worth not having Trump's big mouth in office, in the alternative...

Did you see what the peaceful "free" palestine people just did to the University of Washington? Have you attended a recent corporate LGBTQIA+ and DEI indoctrination program? Have you seen the balance sheets and unfunded liabilities of our public schools? And much of the media has abandoned objective journalism and replaced it with cancel culture op ed hit pieces.

So I am giving the man the same respect I give to ALL US Presidents, including one who chose to line the pockets of health insurers instead of actually improving care or voting rights when they had full control. I am also including one who refused to hold China accountable for spreading COVID around the globe and lacked the mental integrity to run for reelection. Every POTUS has flaws and issues. Trump just happens to push all the progressive buttons and doesn't know when to shut up.

Respectfully submitted,

Your words:
Words have consequences, yes, but they are also just bursts of hot air.

Just bursts of hot aur? LMFAO.
Being sued, having to provide an enormous legal defense and potentially losie your broadcast license for doing something that 'irritates POTUS' (who views himself as King) is WAY more than just hot air. It is a legal issue, punishment and you have just contradicted yourself.

You're getting as full of hot air as the president.
Respectfully submitted.

Nailed it V.
Is Stars and Swipes really that dense?
Tried to punk you, but it didn't work.

Dear Stars and Swipes.
Your 'Vegetarian' remark was cute. It also ID'd you from past postings.
Regarding the 'refusal to hold China accountable' for COVID?
Trump's Kennedy Boy says it should have been left alone to become endemic.
Instead, Trump started (and took credit for -LOL) Operation Warp Speed. 'Member that one? He even got the shots and said. "They work'. My suggestion is: When you reach down into your injustice bag and try grabbing an 'injustice' to throw at someone, maybe repeat it accurately?

Comme ci comme ca

The goal for real liberals, independents, classical civil libertarians, and moderate Democrats is to get more votes and more representation whether through Congress or the White House, next time. That means persuading people on policy, convincing donors to contribute. Digital mouth fart vitriol without persuasive policy is counterproductive and a ticket to political irrelevance.

Yours truly,

The Whigs

And if President Motormouth continues his attacks on Constitutional Amendments with legal; threats of jail and lawsuits (which your side continues to dismiss as simple, harmless burst of hot air, it's gonna be fun at midterms. As you can see, your side is imploding and that includes his staff appointments, SCOTUS judges he appointed and the head of the Supreme Court.

If the US and its Constitution could be taken out with words alone, it would have ceased to exist a long time ago.

The Greatest Generation, which experienced the roaring 20's, the Great Depression, and World War II, would call neoliberal progressives "sissies." Today we call them "pussies".

And your side admittedly 'grabs them'.

The President of the United States, when speaking, should mean what he/she says, and say what he/she means. There should be no fake AI pictures of the President as the Pope coming from the official White House page. A pope just died, and while I am an atheist and have no dog in this hunt, the picture was poorly timed and inappropriate for an elected leader whose population include Catholics...it is just boorish behavior and wrong. Jokes are one thing, speaking about running for a third term in violation of The Constitution are another.

Quit sugar-coating his bullshit and quit counseling us to deal with it. NEVER. GOING. TO. HAPPEN.

You write as clearly as Biden speaks. Nobody can interpret the anti-American verbal diarrhea let alone genders emanating out of the Democratics today. I think they may have actually forgotten who votes in American elections. They can't even handle moderates, let alone Civil Libertarians, without knee-jerk group think. I don't even think the average Gen X or Millennial takes Democrats seriously anymore. They did at least corner the market on privileged white college girl who read Marx but knows nothing.

He has cheapened the image of a United States president, IMHO. Selling Trading cards dressed up as Superman? Bibles with the Lee Greenwood song about loving the USA printed in China? An airplane with lavender rugs and glitz decor that is more decorative than functional gifted to us by a country that will chop off a woman's head when she isn't dressed correctly? And the capper - our DOGE now has to find MILLIONS for his special 79th birthday parade? Really? LOL? Millions for a fucking birthday party? Will they hand out MAGA hats? Vance's movie about Hillbillies sure wasn't far from the truth. America is becoming a cartoon run by a guy with 6 bankruptcies who just enabled our country's credit rating to be lowered by Moodys. Like my mom used to say, "Someday, we'll all be driving Cadillacs to the poorhouse."
