Your 'epiphany' would hold water if it was just him blustering but the problem is, if the bluster doesn't w ork, he turns it into truth.Dear Vegetarian, I've had an epiphany recently, which I would ask that you consider:
We have never really had a POTUS who enjoyed trolling and, as they say in the UK, taking the piss out on people. From AI photos as the pope, to jokes about a third term and due process, this President's frankness and penchant for zingers and hyperbole, and while often offensive or outlandish, and a new take on decorum, is not equivalent to the sky falling. Words have consequences, yes, but they are also just bursts of hot air. The man just speaks his mind, sans filter, like my WW2 Vet grandfather whenever went into a Japanese restaurant (cringe worthy). He can't help himself. But that doesn't mean you should take everything he says literally or that he will or can actually do what he says. He knows people are prone to overreact these days and are suckers for sarcasm. He knows which knee-jerk liberal buttons to push. So what should you and the Democrats do? What would you do if this was a bully in 3rd grade?...Ignore it. Stop hanging on every word. Stop whipping up the extremists in your party into a frenzy. To the point of absurdity and the rejection of common sense in setting policy and discourse (for example, demanding rule of law but not enforcing laws in sanctuary cities, or demanding fairness but letting dudes set records in female sports). Not letting go, not compromising, not ignoring it, just makes you and the party look bad. Like you can't handle shit. I mean, if one old man can set you off with words, how would you or the party fare in WW3? IMO, that is a path to political irrelevance (BTW, AOC and Bernie draw crowds of progressives, but they aren't gonna draw voters).
Just some advice from a legit neutral, independent.
Consider his attacks on the First Amendment as he tries to set himself up for the one who 'decides' what is truth for the rest of us.
- Trump defends saying 2020 election was stolen using first amendment. His attorney, John Lauro, states that Trump actually believed it was stolen therefore he was able to state it with first rights protection.
- Trump’s Executive Order 14149 gives a person absolute Freedom of Speech, which is already, supposedly, a freedom guaranteed by our Constitution.
- Trump rails against 60 Minutes segment showing interview with Kamela Harris before election. Again, he is entitled to his opinion.
- When being a cranky old man turns into something else – a lawsuit.
The president’s latest criticism of the network, just one of his media targets, comes as his attorneys enter reported settlement talks with Paramount Global, the parent company of CBS News and a conglomerate that is currently working to secure a megamerger with entertainment
“These antics are why the American People have no trust in the Press,” Trump wrote, “… and demand that the Media, very much including 60 Minutes, CBS, and its owners, be held responsible for their corruption and lies, which is exactly what we are doing in Court!”\
In court? Do you get this? This is where your angry old grandpa just blowing smoke breaks down. If his joke doesn't work, he goes after your freedom that he guarantees for himself - and he goes after it in such a way that it will cost you money, a career or what he REALLY wants - he wants you to fear him and fear jail time. And this is hanging on every word?
Sorry S & S. Actually, it's recognizing him for what he REALLY is. A wannabe, mafia boss schooled by a mafia attorney Roy Cohn.
