Forced Rankings. Don’t Trust Other Reps in Your Area






An exercise where the Manager must rank each of the reps in their district. It’s used as a tool for the Regional Director to pressure the DSM on what they’re doing to move low performers (bottom 30%) either up or out, and is usually a precursor to layoffs or realignments.

Perhaps. But it also happens every year end during calibration meetings. Has been for a long time here.
 


Needs very little in today's AZ when real layoffs occur. For the last several years, layoffs are handled by HR and a 3rd party to avoid biases. The "forced rankings" are more about weeding the herd during a given year. Think GE mentality of always culling the bottom 10% based on sales, behaviors and market dynamics.

Disagree. Managers will have input and their favorites. Expect to be thrown u def the bud by other reps to save themselves. DTA. Don’t trust..
 


Disagree as much as you would like. That whole premise of playing fav's is why AZ went the other way. Been a first line mgr. for some time. I have had zero input over the last few layoffs I have been part of. To be honest, I haven't forced ranked anyone in several years. But other TA's may still be doing that.

But other TA’s may be doing that…so you admit that it’s happening. Like I said, do not trust any of these managers. Smile in your face and stab you in the back.

Oncology is still doing it. And favoritism doesn’t have to only exist at the first line manager level. It most certainly exists at the second line manager level. Hell it’s rampant at that level. Look no further than the lung team. The evidence has been out in the open for all to see since Project North Star.
 




Seriously? If what DT wants which is “most favored nation” pricing here in the U.S., we know prices will fall dramatically and that will precipitate deep cost cutting. Don’t have your head in the sand.

It will never happen. Lobbying is far more powerful than DT. he just wants the headline to show he tried
