currently untying the knot and attorney says we need to split the stocks. Anyone have an experience doing this? Any pointers? The RSU and SSAR differentiation is confusing and the attorney is saying some are community, some purely mine, and other a mix of community and mine due to date of separation. help...!

You should cash out half of the stocks when you were together for your soon to be ex and be done. You shouldn't owe them for future exercising but if you do, agree upon a number to pay them. Don't make it complicated. You won't want any financial interactions with your ex after the divorce is final. No one ever comes out on top after a divorce.

if you have kids, you could put it under their name in a custodial account
