Nerdy Directors with Nothing to do and No Personality

Very wasteful positions with the exception of a site leader. Huge wasted dollars. Get rid of these do nothings. Listening to calls and emailing all day long. Delivering Zero. When will J&J figure this out and fire them?

Start will George Street, just chain and lock the doors and shut off elevators and cafeteria.

J&J urgently needs DOGE-ing at the Director Level. They are just the flunkies for VPs. Not utilized efficiently or effectively. Lots of wasted $$$. No Personality or Leadership skills. Very wasteful, Joaquin & Joe. 2025 needs to be the year of the Director purge. For each Director purged, 4 others are able to actually work and add value. Some Directors want to be DOGEd & receive a severance package. Give it to them. Chitchat is over, Buh Bye.

Directors are not managing at all. I would even call them expensive analysts. Many pull data & crunch excel and ppt themselves, very wasteful. No idea how to use their org in a efficient way.

SCG directors execute a contract that is hand delivered to them from the home office. No negotiation, maybe some small value add for the account with zero financial gain. Do they ever visit customers with reps to acknowledge the real issue, NO!

Same here in Belgium. Way too much overhead. Director level brings zero value. Promoted then get very comfortable and lazy. Or micromanagers because they are bored. Some Directors manage 0-3 people only. Largest waste in J&J. Eliminate, Eliminate, Eliminate. NOW.

Then put out a meeting in for middle of July with 70+ people at home office. More like negative value add. We don’t need Scg in onc. They don’t contract, don’t listen, don’t contact with customers

Definitely a huge cost saving opportunity. Total compensation per Director is between $300,000 and $500,000. Eliminate less, save more.
They also get LTIs automatically simply because they are directors. Yet all the while they stretch to find reasons not to give their staff LTIs. The good ole’ boys club is alive and well at J&J.

I’ve noticed mostly employees below the director level are displaced in J&J’s ongoing series of mini-layoffs that are designed to avoid triggering the WARN Act compliance threshold. It seems like the company would be better off canning a few toxic directors rather than cutting people who actually do the work.

Toxic directors know "too much" about other leaders. Toxicity breeds and elevates toxic leaders. The more one knows where all the 'dead bodies are', the more that leaders above them will keep them in place no matter how toxic. Keeping toxic leaders 'in the family' is far better alternative than kicking them out and creating more headaches of the "family secrets" going beyond JNJ walls.

EMEA perspective. Directors need to stop micromanaging their direct reports and let them manage their people.Directors get bored because they have nothing value-added to do.
