How is Alcon doing RIF's in 2025?

Over the last 12 - 18 months, it seems Alcon USA has moved from restructures and eliminating jobs, to straight out firing employees. Senior managers are being moved to "special projects" roles for a few months then they exit. Question: are these tactics to avoid severance packages? Or are they still using severance packages to get employees to sign waivers on the way out?

It’s job change tactic by medtech companies. Change your role then eliminate the role.

Alcon has so much waste of money employees. Just can them. That mars team is worthless

Time honored Pharma tactic. But eliminating jobs means severance packages, right? The "one off" firings are different, and seem to be increasing.

Are they using PIP's as cover for a "quiet" RIF, to avoid severance?

"Quiet firing" has become the new rage. A preamble to a PIP: increase anxiety and stress on the target, then sit back and document the "mistakes" they make.

Curious what others at Alcon are seeing.

That’s exactly the case. Using Compliance to create ‘code of conduct’ termination excuses

You're hearing of that happen? If Alcon has been doing this, those people should report it here. That's what this site was created for. Constructive dismissal is illegal but hard to start a case. A pattern of that over 6 to 18 months, dozens of people, is a big deal.

That is precisely what they did to me in 2022. I was three weeks from being laid off with a pretty substantial severance due to how long I was with the company, and they used a trivial HR issue to fire me instead.
These people are scumbags. Not a place you can expect to work. Find ways to fuck em over before you bail to a better oppportunity. May they all burn in Hell.
