So their current market cap is less than before they merged with Biomet at ~18.23B down from an ATH of 31.93B in 2020 and it was 19.24B in 2014 before Biomet merger... way to errode the entire value of that acquisition.

Impressive leadership remaining positive and rallying the troops while positioning the company in a quick timeliness to be acquired but not too quick to tip off any alarms at the SEC... make your gold parachute and the hell with the rest of the company.... hahahaha just awesome no one notices this strategy.

Nobody is dumb enough to buy something with “biomet” as part of the name. Wont happen twice!

Technically, any buyer wouldn't be paying for the biomet part of the company anyways they would just be getting that headache for free. I'd say give it two more years or so of going lower. There's always a buyer if things get low enough.

Not the only one to notice. I started selling out of the market covered puts from the start of the Zimmer Biomet merger did okay not great but then realized in July 2023 that it was time to get out and buy slightly out of the market puts for several months out. Been making that money ever since!! Just got be ready for the buyout and not have anything too aggressive.

And I would agree but I would bet more on closer to 3 years before it's low enough to be attractive they'll be down to $10 billion at their current rate. I'd say $10-$12 billions is about what IT has been instructed to get it too.

Zimmer would have to get rid of many many items if there was a buyout or merger with anyone. Hansons job was to spin off spine and dental into their own thing for potential sell off as Z was not putting much money in RD anymore for those. The government would pick Z apart depending on the buyer, who we can’t even speculate on that as it would pretty much shut down any buyout talk. Unfortunately investors don’t understand this industry very well.

Possibility of a PE firm scooping it up? Mr. Higgins is connected to ADIA after all.
Yeah why not? I mean if it gets low enough... then they could just split off the brands one by one with no rush. I mean how much do you think the Persona brand is by itself? Conservatively at least $1B right? So if it gets down to $10B they buy it out and sell one brand to cover one tenth to possible one fifth lf their cost if not more to include all the machinery as well? Slowly cut back employees and then start selling the real estate they actually own. Sounds like a decent possibility to me based on their current trajectory

That and you don’t sell off single lines, you sell divisions. Welcome to the industry investors.
Right but as noted above it would be very hard to sell off any single division to any currently existing player in the market. So okay maybe they try to sell the division at approximately the same time with specific brands going to certain companies and others going to other competitors?

The Bull wasn’t instructed to lose $10B of market cap, but he’s assembled a financial plan that might make it happen.

You can’t spend 65% of free cash flow on share buybacks, period. Couple that with an inventory situation where reps and distributors like us can’t get enough product, and you’ve got a disaster.

Above-market growth with far-below-market investment is idiotic. The execs need replaced, and the board needs gutted.

Instead, IT and SU will keep cutting costs while flying around in their jets posting on LinkedIn. Morons.

. And to those that say nobody buying divisions. Look how smith and nephew set up, divisions so separate they can sell off one at anytime. Stryker has enough cash on hand to make it happen, Medtronic, others have looked into buying up parts of companies. Hanson spun Spine and dental off, instead of kill the stock even more with those they made them their own entity, I’m sure they would sell if anyone had interest as it’s not a money maker for us, easy market share grab for anyone.

Hanson spun off Spine and Dental because those were obsolete technology no? I mean you all stopped investing in R&D for those two markets for some reason. Seems odd given the fact that the Spine market is one of the largest markets. Then again that PE company acquired those spine assets for pennies on the dollar.

lol

I love all of these conspiracy theories. Folks…..it is simple: Zimmer is getting b@tch slapped by Stryker every day because the US sales chamnel is awful. Done. End. See you again tomorrow

i have been tracking this company for a decade plus. Been reading the non-sense here and seeing my shares lose value since 2011. First it was Dvorak the bad lawyer, then Hanson, now the bull which I assume is Ivan. Always underperforming. Always excuses and blaming management. 15 years later is just complaints from reps mostly and the usual drunk fired employee. Can it be that all of you who complain about it are breaking it in pieces? Asking with sincerity.
