Sadly, he is a very nice man who had his board "managing" him from day one. They kept information from him and threatened those who spoke up with poor performance reviews or forced them out. It is still on him, though; as a CEO, you need to be relentless about facts, data, and real strategies backed by execution, not just PowerPoint presentations. Was wondering why the stock was getting a small bump this morning. He was the head of consumer for nearly 8 years - the board wasn’t around until the last two; all the while the company has sputtered along. This all falls on his shoulders. Hi Thibault, nice to see you here.Sadly, he is a very nice man who had his board "managing" him from day one. Hi Thibault, nice to see you here.
In all seriousness, the only reason consumer "succeeded" as a part of JnJ was because the savings leveraged from the size and shared resources of corporate made up for the horrendous processes, ridiculous execution, and stupidly risk-averse culture. Kenvue was never going to thrive after the separation without major operational and culture shifts, neither of which had any chance of happening with legacy JnJ leadership running things. Anyone with 2 brain cells to rub together could see that.
JnJ and Joaquin just wanted someone bland and boring, someone who wouldn't rock the boat and crater the share price before they could legally dump their position. The company, brands, employees, and loyal customers be damned.
It would've been nice for the employees and people who care about this company and the brands and the people who buy the products for leadership to have given us a chance to succeed right after separation. This would've meant cleaning house and appointing bold, new leadership, but our path was solidified when they chose Thibault and the ineptitude that filtered down from there...
