Greg Meyers and Digital Health S• Show

The screwup by Greg Meyers continues after a half baked BI&A takeover, but hey, you should not expect any less with his history.
William Mayo with no Research IT experience out after 2 years of tomfuckery and kicking out high achievers who knew something about Research. Bought in as an SVP replacing the previous VP level Celgene guy for no reason and now has another VP reporting to him. Talk about the level of waste.
Lisa Delin - DEI only credentials with zero Commercial experience and no significant value delivered in BMS, let us see how far this ridiculous puppet clown show will go
Sydney Klein’s bloated infrastructure and cyber function - Half of this group as in all pharma should be outsourced or moved to India, instead they have 4 VPs, an army of EDs & senior directors and very large teams in the US. Any other pharma CIO will laugh at this waste, but yeah it is a good thing that BMS LT has no clue this function really is a commodity. A wannabe CIO (LOL, or maybe it will happen with an incompetent BMS LT) and the self appointed DEI queen with no real business IQ Sydney is way over her head. This group has no accountability for any business growth or pipeline progress. How is this cost center function continuing to grow?
You should add this.

Digital Health team with four years of delivering nothing - the so called results that Greg brags about are done completely by vendors like viz.ai and Fitbit, not by this team. How do you justify such a large team while everyone else is forced to cut deep? Oh I forgot, their main deliverable now is running BMS funded conferences and traveling to exotic conferences, preferably international, on BMS dime. What a joke. A slap on the other functions.

That’s interesting. When Greg landed at BMS, he told us that we were too old, paid too much, and not hands-on technical. He told us he had a young employee at his former company —“Pooja in her hoodie” —who could whip up code for him overnight and launch a new app in the morning. I guess he wasn’t able to recruit Pooja? LOLOL. He’s an assclown. An ageist, racist, and misogynistic assclown.

Sydney is a great politician and could be fit to run for office in NJ. With the history of so many NJ politicians in jail for corruption, she will fit right in. A role model for lack of integrity and vision with a natural knack for backstabbing. And a master of DEI tricks.

Maybe, but she’s kinda hot. You people sound like a bunch of immature children with the name calling.

Greg has propped up AI as the solution to his own Digital Health organization's dysfunction as well as that of BMS, but it is merely amplifying it. 1K layoffs in a little over one year, following three years of forcing half-assed initiatives like the Microsoft Co-pilot rollout, Technical Quotient requirements, Quantum Leap, and now a massively bloated and terribly expensive AI infrastructure, all of which have provided nothing in the way of tangible outcomes. The question is, how much longer will BMS be willing to play the long game with Greg?

I can answer that one - 31 NVIDIA Super Pod DGXH100s at $12 MM PLUS software and private cloud. Click here for the details: Bristol Myers Squibb H100 Super Pod

Preceding this shitshow, there was a dramatic cutback in the number of BMS R&D programs, implying a significantly reduced workload for scientists, which this initiative was purported to support.

Rumor has it that BMS is now trying to sell off the remnants of this egregiously pompous misappropriation of computational budget, but the institutional knowledge lost due to the bloodbath of IT personnel cuts that preceded it is downright criminal. All to fuel an egotistical desire to fund what essentially amounts to a vanity project. Mayo deservedly takes the fall, but who approved the funding? Greg is still cashing his bloated paycheck while receiving a handsome bonus and perks.
This NVDIA cluster Greg is touting is a $20M a year dud and a wasted shiny toy created just for him. It is amazing that BMS LT lets Greg buy this expensive waste while so many other important areas are forced to cut to the bone. The only beneficiaries are Greg with his so called thought leader posts to showcase in LinkedIn and NVDIA. You have to understand the context that BMS Research has no history of developing successful new medicines. All we do is buy late stage assets, get the regulatory approvals and commercialize them (e.g. COBENFY, OPDIVO, CAMZYOS, Reblozyl, Breyanzi all through acquisitions, in fact most of the products in the growth portfolio). Only exception is Sotyktu and you all know what a disaster this is turning out to be. The way Greg talks makes you think that we will have so many new medicines churning out through the Research function using this expensive toy. This is a joke. Bill Mayo deservedly takes the fall, but will the BMS LT call out Greg on his wasteful spending that only enhances his profile?

Greg Myers strategy consists of the following: 1. Completely gut the company's culture; 2. Level up on expensive, flashy AI tools; 3. Deliver zero outcomes.

How is Suhas still employed?? The guy crashed the one digital health product we inherited from Celgene (MyHope) and was Peter Payne Promoted to VP and given a team when Greg arrived 3 years ago. He’s since delivered absolutely nothing except and somehow managed to keep his title and pay while being demoted to lose his team and working for his peer’s direct report. He’s now getting 6 more months when many other legit VPs in Greg’s org were canned last month. What a joke. He needs to go so Alexandra can finally move in with Greg. They’ve been apart too long.

For all the shit these SLT deserve, Greg is one of the least deserving. The reason this company is performing poorly is due to poor launches and acquisitions - period. Greg is a nobody that could be replaced with a golden retriever and it wouldn’t impact the growth trajectory
A golden retriever would definitely boost earnings

Morale is non existent in IT under Greg. Horrific.
This makes me sad. We worked really hard to build a trusting and transparent culture under PvA that carried us through downsizing, a pandemic, and a massive integration. Greg had only one job— don’t fuck it up. But he knew better. How that working for you, Greg?

Trump going to ban outsourcing of US jobs to India. Good luck Hyderabad.
I don't think the Big-Tech will allow that. Too much has been invested by US companies in offshoring and Global Capability Centers (GCC). They have all parties in their pocket. That's the reason the govt. is targeting tariff only for goods. No tariff on services!

Yeah that’s what everyone thought about tariffs on manufactured goods in April yet here we are.

I don’t know how they will do it, but they will clamp down.

The difference is pva cared about his people. Greg was brought in to chop heads. His narcissistic approach and lack of compassion speaks volumes in regard to his character. I can recall a 30 minute “get to know you” meeting I had with him where he was totally bashing the “seniors”, and how kids coming out of college were able to learn better than seasoned IT people. A true gem

PvA had to cut 10% of the IT team when he moved back into direct CIO role and he did it in a way that left people feeling they were treated respectfully. The two concepts can coexist.

Does the IT leadership have a pulse on the Hyderabad work culture? 15 official holidays + 20 vacation days and sick days whenever work deliverables are due. No accountability to business. This experiment is ultimately proving to be expensive.
