I wish everyone a happy new year, but am worried about 2011 and my decision to join Convatec.

Last week I heard that 2 of the successful tm's that Mr Barten called out on his webcast just resigned. Along with that, some of my training classmates have been without a manager for a long time now, and 2 of the people who were part of the training department are gone.

People here have been really nice, but the experienced ones who have offered me advice and direction have resigned or are open about their interviewing plans.

Mr Barten basically said that there are no big changes planned for 2011. How can that be when it seems every experienced and successful TM has left or is leaving, no career progression plan has been explained to me, our training dept is down to 1 person, and we have no new products to sell? The temp agency I worked at seemed more stable and organized.

Please tell me there is some big and secret plan that we will learn about at the meeting in Orlando!

HAHAHAHA THE TEMP AGENCY HAHAHAHA We hired you away from a Temp Agency???!!! OMG we are getting desperate! Now I am nervous if we are reaching into that barrel. Listen, BB knows what he is doing, I am sure we will have some changes to our existing lines, such as different sizes and such. That will give us much more new products to sell and drive the market. In addition, I am sure we will have outstanding contract position as we do every year, and since Medline will be coming onto the HPG contract we will discuss our detailed strategy to prevent any hospitals from switching. Am I scared, HECK NO! On top of that, we already know they will be trying to sale us this year and hopefully it will be finalized in 2012. Stock Options here I come! See, there is absolutely nothing to worry about, just keep your head down, work hard from 8-5 everyday, complete all your reporting everyday, and everything will fall into place. Bring it on 2011!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Don't consider taking your job at Convatec as a mistake--it will be a mistake if you stay too long. the better sales reps are leaving because a better market now exists for their talents--MORE MONEY than Convatec is willing to pay. It is Barton, not Barten, but however you spell it he is not the leader Convatec needs. just another yes man to continue the failed DJ agenda. There is no secret plan in Orlando--"just sell more and you'll make money". Convatec has worn out products, a shrinking market share, dullards in leadership roles, and is owned by venture capitalists who see Convatec as a piggy bank. Maybe Nordic will unload convatec, but until that days comes, along with better leadership, good people will keep leaving for more money elsewhere. Get some experience here, do as well as you can, then try to get to a much better company that will pay you for your skills.

In the past 18 months dozens of tenured, skilled, successful, and respected TMs have fled this diseased company for other sales jobs. The money has dried up at Convatec, but quotas remain unattainable. Sad that a once wonderful organization has crumbled under the leadership of the inept, the dimwitted, the clueless, and the hopeless. Let the mass TM Exodus continue in 2011!
 


It will continue. I am spending the better part of my time interviewing, as are every single one of my colleagues. EVERYONE is looking and interviewing in order to the hell get out now that the job market has opened up.

I can't wait to leave them swinging in the wind after working my ass off for these jerks and getting nothing in return. I have 3 interviews scheduled 2 are second interviews.

I can't wait to leave these dopes like deer in the headlights.

The TM flight from ConvaTec is real and gaining steam. We keep hearing about many long tenured TMs leaving in the past few months as the job market has opened up again. The vultures who own ConvaTec have succeeded in destroying this company. The good news is that much better companies are out there willing to gobble up the fewer and fewer ConvaTec sales pros still left. One day ConvaTec will only be a rumor in the marketplace...don't be surprised to one day see 3M's Aquacel Ag or DuoDERM Extra Thin or Coloplast's Sur-Fit Division. What a joke ConvaTec has become in the marketplace.
