you are outside of the 25% with any product you better go now before the storm. there will be thousands of allergan and pfizer reps and managers looking for jobs by august.

Heard that from my manager today as well. They can give us as many percentages as they want, bottom line is no one will ever know what the headed count will really be. My bet is much higher than 8%.

Who knows who and how many will be cut. I don't think the numbers will be huge initially due to bad press but the cuts will continue over the next few years. In true Pfizer fashion, we will be waiting by the phone every Chrismas.

Cuts will not be small in the beginning. There is already way too much duplication of reps with the Forest model and Pfizer will take care of that ASAP. I know we are all dreaming of small cuts and our jobs will not be affected, but be realistic, this is not going to be good.

the mere thought that there will be any layoffs as a result of any M&A is total nonsense. Actavis is short of manpower. We have contracted recruitment firms in NYC, Chicago and LA to find knowledgeable pharma sales people. They are simply not out there !! We (HR) there are trolls on this site who continually spread fear and mistrust of management. Please stop taking those posts seriously. In fact post a pro-company response.

If you actually know of knowledgeable pharma sales people looking for a great opportunity call personnel in your region.

Really??? Why then are/have so many GREAT reps being and have been pushed out?? Why are so many leaving on their on accord? Why are so many, the vast majority, currently looking for other opportunities? The facts are real. This company currently and has had one of the highest turnover rates in the industry for the last several years. Far higher than the industry average. Why don't you go back in time to understand why people sought out Forest as a place of employment years ago. Why was it that Forest had the lowest turnover rate in the industry years ago. There are great reps out there everywhere. The problem is you have burned through most of them in the last several years! Remember Pfizer already realized that having the most reps in the field( share of voice) model employed in the mid 2000's failed. It was one factor in the significant reduction in access. They will cut to the bone and bleed with to few reps before having to many! That is Business 101.

Ironically the high turnover rate of Forest started with the launch of Namenda Lexapro stretched the capacity of competent people at the company. The fact we paid docs to rd it and it was a good drug helped cover a multitude of errors. Once Namenda launched, and Belak began his rise, this place became the McDonalds of Pharma with its turn over ratio

I left for another Pharma opportunity a couple of months ago. I almost doubled my salary! Also, I am treated like a human being where as Forest/Allergan treats people like scum.

IMO, I would hate to be a DM at that place. If an above average or great rep is hooked up with another Pharma interview/opportunity, they will take it 10 times out of 10 (if they are smart). There's no way a DM can keep his/her quality reps. They will be discovered by another company that has much more to offer. Forest/Allergan can not compete with any other company! It is a 3-ring circus!

Let's be real, it gets/got old really quick putting up with BS and his idiot upper management cronies while sequentially putting up with a clueless DM that treated me like I was a child. The cherry on top was putting up with this crap while getting paid a pitiful salary compared to industry standards.

Bottom line...look for other opportunities. Network and let your friends in the industry know you are interested in other opportunities.

You will be much more happier and you will actually be valued. I promise the grass is greener on the other side! Good luck to all!

Before Wyeth, Pfizer has ~85k employees. In 2008, after the Wyeth deal closed, Pfizer had ~140k employees. By the end of 2009, they had ~110k. Today they have ~75k (not including Hospira).

The same will happen here. Big cut immediately followed by a long slow burn until they get to ~75k.

no way my friend. You paint a dismal picture that I cannot believe they would never execute here. They know they need us ! We know they they need us because we are the sales army that keeps their B&C flowing. Ya there may be a few token layoffs to 'clean house' but in no way will they dump many reps. There is an industry wide shortage according to the HR newsletter and every time someone leaves they end up spending $10-30k to find a replacement. So I realize like HR said a lot posts here are just trolls trying to get us paranoid and fearful. But its all a big joke. I am a long term employee from Forest (DM level).

Troll? With the exception of the last two sentences, those were all facts. It's just math.

They didn't fire all those people, but they did make life miserable enough that they quit. I don't know what to tell you brother, the information is out there, even if you don't want to believe it.

THE GOOD NEWS. Legacy Forest reps are inexperienced and have the lowest salaries in the industry. Many, many of you can make more in contract sales. AND Pfizer likes cheap labor so a lot of you might be OK. Financially flaccid, but Pfizer.

BUT, none of that matters if Pfizer has a equally underpaid, underqualified employee in your geography. You'll get the boot.

A race to the bottom.

I don't think there's any such thing as a knowlegeable pharma sales rep. You could all be replaced by a troop of baboons with sandwich boards.
