I got a call about an Alkermes opening in my area and the comp package does sound good especially the target bonus. My concerns which I am not sure can be answered in an interview revolve around quotas and the new drug. I keep thinking about how many of my friends over there that have struggled to make their quotas quarter after quarter which says their people at the top may not be reasonable. My second concern is this new MDD drug that they are banking on may not get approved due to the fact they filed with only one positive phase 3 study because the other two phase 3 studies failed to meet the primary endpoints. It usually takes two positive Phase 3 outcomes to appease the FDA. Just today I read that because the drug is made up of two opioid modulators it could end up being scheduled which then means no samples. This would be a huge competitive disadvantage in the MDD market. You can google ALKs 5461 and read about this stuff. I am not sure what I am going to do yet but thought folks would like to read what I have uncovered

I have a friend that has a friend that works for Alkermes in Stockton, CA. She said she made $93k in bonus last year. Hope that helps
 


ALkermes comp packages are fantastic but they don't want many Sunovion people. They seem to be very selective and want to keep their culture so they are not letting too many people come from any one company during their many expansions. At least that is what the recruiter I have been working with has told me.

Exoect several from Sunovion to be brought in for interviews. Very common practice to bring the “real” candidate and a stooge (Sunovion rep) for the panel interviews. It’s the good rep bad rep interview. Hope that helps

this is exactly right. They do not want to ruin their culture with how we have been trained and treated. I am not even wasting my time applying for these jobs. I wish I could take this place off my job history.

The drug will be approved?? How can they know that? They submitted with two failed phase 3 trials and only one Phase 3 that was positive after they manipulated it prior to fielding it. They have that hurdle to clear and also the issue that this drug is made up of two Opioid Modulators which means it could get scheduled which would be an issue since no other drug for MDD is scheduled. I am going to talk to them to see what they say but everything I just wrote above is public information.
 


Alkermes has a totally different culture than Sunovion.
Sunovion reps are told what to do and how to do it. They are used to extreme micro-management.
Alkermes reps manage their own business to generate growth.
Most Sunovion reps are not capable of that type of selling.
Sunovion reps are also very well known for selling off-label.
I don't think that Alkermes will touch a Sunovion rep.

Alkermes hired 60 or so Sunovion reps two years ago. Are they unhappy with their hires?

I've heard it both ways. I know some that went over and left already, or are looking. I think if you're a rep, it's as frustrating a job as it is here, but they pay better than we do. Gotta take the good with the bad... It's not perfect anywhere
