Anspach

Any thoughts on this new division within Synthes? I'm getting ready to interview with them and was curious about how they stack up against the competition, Stryker and Medtronic. It sounds like they are combining Synthes power equipment as well as the Anspach products. Any feedback on the company, culture, products, etc. is much appreciated.

Very rewarding work, but wouldn't invest in this company; very unethical.
Left two years ago; life is much more peaceful

Thanks for your message. Would you mind explaining? Was it Anspach or Synthes that you left? Was it your manager that was unethical or everyone? How did the products stack up against the competition? Really appreciate the feedback as I don't want to make the jump and then regret it.

Sure, I'll do my best to simplify something very complicated:
In answer to your question-it was both the manager and company that were very unethical. In regards to manager, my goal of hitting 12-15% growth was alway met or exceeded every year I was there. As a reward, my manager would "rezone" my territory which always resulted in taking away 20-30% of my territory. In addition, they hired an additional 3 reps which also shrank my territory. This coincided w/ the company's new found phylosophy to saturate the market w/ reps. This was not an isolated incident, I had many conversations w/ reps all over the country. Bottom line, the company has absolutely not interest in rewarding success.
In regards to the company, the conversations on this blog regarding criminal behavior and specifically reps and managers going to jail are absolutely true. In a nutshell, the company turned a blind eye to questionable "single use" items, because it was so profitable. However, the reps had no other choice but to continue to bill for these items, because they had a goal which included: what they billed for last year + 15%. Its a viscious circle.
There's so much more, but not gonna get into it. Bottom line, its a nasty company (and nasty business for that matter); choose wisely, because once your in, you'll feel trapped.

Great response. One last question and then I'll leave you alone. Was this with Synthes or Anspach? With a new regime with Anspach I wonder if things would be any different? Thanks again for your time and feedback.

Synthes. And one more thing: those new hires that saturated the market were 9xs out of 10, children in adult bodies. For example, see the post before this one.
You can expect to be surrounded by inappropriate, foul mouthed boys who KNOW EVERYTHING!!
