Any info on how this company is?

It is as bad as they come. Micro managed every minute. They listen to your phone calls and make suggestions while you are talking to an account. It is the worst of the worst. You have been warned.

Not sure what the other locations are like but i work in the florida center. They belittle people and have no idea what goes on outside the walls. Plus we are so underpaid and overworked. Stay away, if i could turn back time i would have taken a different path.

Obviously one or two disgruntled employees have responded to this thread. I would challenge them to approach management and discuss their issues. The facts are that the Darby pay scale is in line with others in the industry. The average sales rep earns $75-$80k, high earners are $150-$250k. Calls are monitored for training purposes as they are in any professional telephone sales organization. Sales reps are managed and given the tools they need to succeed. I would encourage any prospective employee to do their due diligence and then call HR for more information.

I am not good at figuring out the plot of movies....but that was for sure Darby Management posting that reply. If you find me one Darby rep making over $100,000 i will kiss their a** in the middle of the Olympic stadium! Hell the top Schein & Patterson Reps don't make $250,000 maybe $150,000 but they have to pay for car, cell phone computer etc...so tired of the b.s. management puts out

this person has no clue.... there are patterson, schein, benco reps, etc that make WELLLLLL over 250.... but darby??? maybe their top 1 or 2%

Yes, I am Darby Management, so what? You're a genius.
15% of our reps earn over $150k per year. Fact, not fiction. 10-20% of Schein and Patterson reps earn over $250k per year. You don't have to kiss anybody's ass, just do your homework and ask the right people the right questions.

I've worked at Darby for 7 years and made $269k last year. I love when these wanna be sales reps anonymously blame a company for their situation when haven't opened a new account or have done anything outside the norm to grow their sales. Maybe before they look at their company as the reason they should look in the mirror. I've been growing my sales over $300k a year and have made more money ever single year I've been here. Oh BTW, my experience is that the only people that are "micro-managed" are the people that need to be micro-managed. True sales people that know what needs to be down aren't micro-managed. Maybe you are better suited for a position in customer service if you prefer to be reactive. I prefer to get deals done and get paid.

10-20 % is a big spread...that tells me your data is old.Why not 13% or 16% or 20%

My area Patterson rep leaves his territory to become a manager and they split his customers between 3 reps. That guy was one of the biggest in the midwest and he wasn't
making $250,000

Schein Rep that used to be big hitter is bitter and bad mouthing us grey market dealers that take his customers.

Kids it's not like the good old days!

Call Joe. 800-645-2310, hit 0 and ask for Joe. It's real I promiss. Call Susie at 3m, Ken at Dentsply or Pat at Kerr, they are the reps who handle Darby business, ask them about Joe. Hard work = good pay at Darby.

You obviously don't work for Darby because if you did you would know that Darby reps making over $100k are abundant. It's real easy to figure out. There are many in the larger locations and at least some in all locations.

So Darby manager, or whoever the Joe guy is, or one of you oodles of Darby reps making 6 figures....... could you educate me on how anyone at Darby could conceivably make that kind of cash..... None of us really seem to buy it. I mean us dealers all get paid on margin, right? Well the only card Darby has to play is the price card..... I mean your distribution and shipping isn't better than Schein or Patterson, your customer service certainly isn't, etc.... So you have price. So how can you make money by selling discount dental products. Oh yeah.... Volume. Hmmmmm Well i guess that makes sense- i mean you do have a lot more time on your hands. While you are sitting there on the phone dialing for dollars and slashing prices on cotton balls, we're out there having conversations with our customers that have substantive value.... How to grow their business, deliver better patient care, and helping them advance their clinical knowledge. Keep pounding those phone lines boys!

Ha! Love it.... Keep Pounding the phones..... From 6 Figure Schein Rep on the 16th Hole.

I came over when Darby bought Becker Parkin and here is what I think.

I sell more than 3 million each year and four times a month I get scolded because my call count is a little low. Meanwhile rookies that sell nothing and reach 200 voice mails per day get cash rewards. The managers are not qualified and know less than the reps do.

The company makes money in spite of itself. If i wasn't stuck here because of my history, I would be gone. You can make good money here but we get no respect and are treated like babies. There are things that are more important than money, like respect.

You tools think you are providing a "value added service" the problem is that that Dr's are catching on to the fact that it's all smoke and mirrors and most of you have no value at all. If the answer is to sell at low margins Safeco would be bigger then Schein and Patterson combined. It really shows you have no clue. You surely have no selling skills AND no work ethic. You stay on the golf course and I'll have fun dismantling your puny little territory one by one.

Hey r*****.....They're called cotton pellets.

My original post was that Darby is a Micro Managed Hell Hole. The fact that management got involved and got Joe D. involved is only proof. This place has the worst culture I have ever experienced. Joe D. is a corporate puppet and he is fed accounts from all the reps who quit because they could not take it or from the reps who were brought on for their bases and then fired for independent thinking. If you want account names I can provice them. Joe D. you are an order taker. You may make good money but you are an order taker only and you know it. You are a fed rep and if you were not in corporate NY you would not even come close to the success you enjoy.

Attention anyone interested in this company. THIS WILL BE THE WORST MISTAKE OF YOUR PROFESSIONAL CAREER. They will micromanage you to death. The manager said bring it to managements attention. That would be a death sentence to any employee. Free thought is frowned upon and not accepted at any level.

Here are some examples...
- Memorize a call sheet from Alexander on how to talk to a dental office. If you deviate or freelance off of this format you are contacted by management.
-You are forced to sign a non-compete to gain employment with this company and every rep that has quit or been fired is harassed with threats of lawsuits and slander accusations.
-If the rep goes to another company then that company gets letters from Darby's attorney threatening legal action against the hiring company and the representative combined. The poor rep does not even stand a chance with their new company.
-This information obviously gets back to us and causes panic and fear in most reps which is exactly what management wants.

This is not a sales company this is a Hell Hole. You have been warned. Management if you want to keep responding I will start spreading the word internally and I bet I can get more people than you who feel the way I do than the disinformation you spew.
