BEMs gone!

So, serious question. Can't the BEM role be done via a combination of 1) HD's, 2) GPO's and 3) Internal communications from the contracting department? If the account actually needs a personal touch, send in an HD. Otherwise the contracting piece could easily be handled without a BEM.

I'm not sure what else the BEM's do, so maybe I'm missing something?

Nope - you aren’t missing anything. They email accounts quarterly and on occasion visit in person. FRM’s work their asses off at least mine does

You are a jealous FRM trying to damage the BEMs. Your example is absolutely wrong about how they operate. It’s a multi-faceted job that is account management, gaining access for the full team, quarterbacking non HD led accounts, prospecting business, enrolling new accounts among other things. It’s a catch all role. And yes, QBRs are per of it but no one operates like that through email.
No HD could take on everything a BEM does. They don’t have the time or bandwidth. Stop the hate. Everyone is nervous right now.

Stupidest chat ever. BEMs are fine. FRMs are fine. Both have their place and are important.

Most of those being let go will be the lower performers. Why do you think HR is involved? This is how they can cut people and not deal with dozen of lawsuits.

TLL's make sense. We have no budget for speaker programs any way. I can see a thinning of the BEM's too. I think FRM's are safe, they bring a lot to the table in Respiratory, Neurology and Immunology.

Ophthamology BEMS and FRM’s work very hard in most ecosystems. TLL’s in Ophthalmology are very valuable too. I hope they offer early retirement to those close. Ophthamology, for the amount of sales generated, are not working with many field positions compared to direct competitor. Hopefully management knows that fact. Lucentis had many more CS’s with a third of the sales.

You heard here first all BEMs to be severed

BEMS and HDS are the only ones allowed into most accounts now days. TAMS are blocked from most hospital systems, and most oncology groups.TAMS don’t work on formularies, coverage, ordering issues, distribution, discounts, rebates, 340b, pharmacy issues, EMR order sets, rebates or driving higher utilization. Tams don’t even look at their data anymore.TAMS just keep bringing in lunch to the few offices that allow it, over and over and never mention a single product. Sad, but TAM roles can be combined and no TAM should only have to “sell” one drug. Leave the Ecosystems alone - it is time South San Fran and especially the bloated marketing departments go through a layoff. The field has gone through too many.

PS....BEMs and HDs only got access thru TAMs... all the access is driven though opportunities generated by TAMs. Get over yourself. :p:p:p:p:p:p

Keep holding on. TAMS may make a difference in newer products but when you’re dealing with an aging portfolio BEMs FRMS and HDs make the difference.

yeah your team did such a great job with all our older products. name one contract that drove business??? we get our breakfast, lunch and dinner handed to us for the last 5 years..
