Benco?

Honestly I wouldn’t do it at this juncture if you’re new to dental. You’ll maybe make like 40k a year for the first year if you’re lucky. But that monthly salary goes down every month until you’re basically earning pennies by month 12.

Basically you need to sell about 1.5 million just to get yourself to a 60k salary on commission and very likely more with the way margins are going down these days. And lemme tell you, you’ll need a good 3 years to get there unless you get extremely lucky.

Health benefits are subpar, especially the dental coverage (seriously we work for a dental company and you give us United Concordia with almost zero coverage?)

Depending on your region you may be babysat by your regional manager and unless you are taking over a territory or bringing over your own accounts, the territory has already been sucked dry and you won’t accomplish much in the year they give you to get your sales together. You’ll compete against your own teammates (if you can even call them that, it’s really to each their own, hunger games style).

So yeah, that inner voice telling you it might not be a good idea is pretty spot on. Work for a dental mfgr if you can find one hiring in your area. Much better gig, better pay and longevity that you won’t get with Benco.

Hope that helps.
